There’s a reason you’re seeing so many shell crafts on the blog lately. When I was asked to be a guest recently on Sarasota’s Suncoast View, they suggested that I come up with something to fit a summer theme. Since nothing says summer more than the beach, crafting with shells seemed like an obvious choice. I already had quite a few finished products and I thought it would be fun to come up with a few more.

I put the kids to bed and started brainstorming. Taking a sip of wine from my stemless glass, I was suddenly inspired and the idea for these stemless wine glass charms sprung to life.

What you’ll need:

Shells

3/4″ mini suction cups

glue gun/hot glue sticks

wine (for testing purposes of course!)

How To Make Stemless Wine Glass Charms

This is actually one of the easiest shell projects you can make and if you have all the materials, it doesn’t take long at all. I had almost everything I needed, except for one thing. In order to attach the charms to the glass, I’d need suction cups.

After I unsuccessfully tried to find small suction cups at several stores, I turned to my good friend Amazon. I was running out of time but  Amazon Prime saved me since I knew I’d have them in two days (get an Amazon Prime 30-Day Free Trial here). The 3/4″ mini suction cups turned out to be the perfect size.

You'll need to start with these suction cups for your stemless wine glass charms

While I waited for the suction cups to arrive, I painted my shells with acrylic craft paint. It took me awhile to decide whether I wanted to use four completely different shells or just paint four of the same shells different colors. I chose the latter but you can do it however you like.

One thing to keep in mind when you’re choosing shells. Be sure they are not too concave or you won’t be able to push the suction cup down far enough for it to hold. You don’t want the edges of the shells to get in the way.

Paint your charms any color you like

Pull the metal pieces off the suction cups and glue to the shells. Be sure to use a decent amount of glue so the shell stays attached when you pull the suction cup off your glass.

Use plenty of hot glue to be sure the suction cup stays attached to the shell.

Now you’re ready for a party!

After taking these pictures, I also sprayed the shells with a polyurethane spray to protect them from getting wet. It gave them a nice, glossy look.

Don't forget to test it out right way.

These were so easy to make and I was able to finish pretty quickly! Head over to Suncoast View to see the rest of the seashell crafts that I shared.

The fun thing about these wine charms is that you can make them with whatever you want…the possibilities are endless. What type of stemless wine glass charms would you make?
