This week’s Friday Favorites include Harry Potter, Christmas gifts and wine…currently my three favorite things!
For this week’s Friday Favorites, Harry Potter is at the top of my list. There’s this story about a boy that doesn’t know he’s actually a wizard and…what, you know this one already? Yes, I know I’m a little behind the times. Okay, the first book came out almost 20 years ago so I’m WAY behind the times. This all started because my nine year old daughter starting reading the Harry Potter series six weeks ago. Now she’s totally hooked. She loves to read so I encouraged her to give Harry Potter a try, not knowing if she’d like the books or not. Not only does she love them, but she’s been begging me to read them too.
I actually wanted to start reading them ever since I visited the Harry Potter Studios in London but it took me until this week to pick up the first book. Wow…if I’d known how good these books were, I would have read them years ago. Is it strange that I’m an adult and I like them just as much as my daughter does?
What’s even better than the story is the way Ashling and I are bonding over them. I’m too busy to read them as quickly as she has, but one of her first questions every morning is “What part of the book are you on mommy?”. Even if I’m too tired, I read a chapter anyway because I don’t want to let her down. It’s cute how excited she is about my reading them with her (though she’s three books ahead of me) and how much she loves having discussions about them.
Now she’s patiently waiting for me to finish the first book so that we can watch the movie together. I can’t wait!
The Moana Soundtrack
Okay, there seems to be a theme here…maybe I’ve never actually grown up (my husband will confirm that it’s entirely possible). I’ve always loved the Disney princess movies and one reason is the music. They always have the best songs and you can’t tell me that Let It Go or Under The Sea never once got stuck in your head!
Now as soon as the girls and I get in the car, the Moana soundtrack is on and it’s Carpool Karaoke without James Cordon…or any other famous people…though George Clooney is always welcome! It’s just me and the girls singing at the top of our lungs, getting strange looks at stoplights. All the songs are great but our favorites are definitely How Far I’ll Go and You’re Welcome. The only problem with You’re Welcome is that once I get it in my head, it’s stuck there for the rest of the day. So if you pull up next to a car of three crazy girls singing, feel free to roll down your windows and sing along!
Bring Wine Shoes & Socks
Have you seen these Bring Me Wine socks yet? I totally need these in my life!
I also need these “Follow Me, Bring Wine” flip flops for the beach…in pink, of course! See, I’m pretty easy to shop for!
Think these will work with my hubby? I’ll have to test them out to see!
This is one of my favorite go-to sites for gifts. With Evermine you can create custom labels for food, jars and packages and my personal favorite, wine labels! I love that you can completely make them your own and even add your own photos. When we bought our house a couple years ago, it needed a lot of renovation before we could move in. I didn’t want my neighbors to be annoyed at all the noise, especially since they didn’t even know us yet, so I had these made (and no, that was not our house…thank goodness).
I bought mini wine bottles and customized Evermine’s labels to make my own wine brand: Renovation Red. They were fun to make and my neighbors loved them! I’ve since made more (for full sized bottles) for my hubby’s birthday and other special occasions. I also have some fun labels up my sleeve for this Christmas too. If you make a lot of edible gifts for Christmas, you’ll want to check out the stickers for that too.
Have you finished all your holiday shopping yet? What’s your favorite go-to gift for Christmas?
If you liked this post, you may want to check these out too…
