Give your work area a whole new look with this DIY coastal themed message board.
I love my new office space and I can’t wait to show you guys my awesome new desk (you’ll want to see this, trust me)! Since I had a fancy new desk, I decided that it was time to give my bland work area a whole new look. We have a coastal theme throughout our house so I decided to go with that and create some fun and functional office decor. I also wanted to be budget conscious and see just how frugally this could be done. I think I did pretty well with my first project!Create your own coastal themed message board on a budget! DIY Coastal Message Board
I came across this message board in the Target dollar section for $3 so I thought I’d give it a try. It came with a couple clothespins and I bought an another 4-pack for $1.
I knew I wanted seashells around the edges and luckily we already have a ton of those…no money spent there!
The board was about two shades too bright for the pale coastal blue that I wanted. I ended up using a white acrylic paint for the board and found a pretty shade of blue for the seashells (79¢ each). It took a couple coats of paint to cover up the original bright blue but eventually I was able to hide it.
I painted the shells blue and gave the clothespins a quick touch up too.
Finally, I used my trusty hot glue gun to glue the shells around the edges and my message board was complete!
For a grand total of $5.58, I have a new coastal themed message board. I think I did pretty well with the budget, don’t you? Don’t forget to check back soon to see my all new office area…I can’t wait to show you what my new desk can do!
