Give your office a mini makeover with a great new desk and some fun accessories!
I’ve partnered with The Human Solution to bring you this mini office makeover. They provided me with a new UPLIFT Desk to review but as always, all opinions are my own.
I recently decided that it was time to add a little fun to my office area. I had just gotten an amazing new desk so now I needed to fix up my boring work space and make it more inviting! After all, I spend a lot of time at my desk so I should have a nice area to work in, right? While it would be great to have an entire room for my office, when you live in Florida your extra rooms become guest rooms! Plus, I like to be out in the open so that I can keep an eye on my four year old…I need to be able to see what she’s up to when it gets a little too quiet! Because of this, my work area is just a small space that I’ve taken over in the front room of my house. It’s really all I need and it works just fine for me. However, it was pretty bland and definitely needed a new look, don’t you agree?
First lets start with the new desk, since that’s what got this whole ball rolling. I’d been using the same computer desk for years and now that I’m blogging full time, it just didn’t cut it anymore. I had nowhere to spread out my papers and sometimes just used my lap or even the floor…not exactly ideal! I definitely needed a change and was really excited to be able to collaborate with The Human Solution and replace that old computer table with an UPLIFT desk. These are unlike any other desks that I’ve come across and as soon as I saw them, I knew this was exactly what I needed! The delivery arrived quickly and after harassing my hubby for a couple days to put it together, I finally had my new desk (you didn’t think I was going to put it together myself, did you?).
While I was excited to finally have more room to spread out, that’s not even the best part. If you sit at your computer on a regular basis, you already know that sometimes you’ll feel it in your lower back. I even have a really great ergonomic chair but I’d still have to get up and stretch now and then. That’s where the UPLIFT desk comes in. This desk actually rises and lowers so that you can choose to sit or stand while you’re working! Pretty cool, right? I could tell you all about it but why not let you see it in action…
In the beginning I wasn’t sure how much I’d actually use the desk to work while standing. Well, I have to tell you, I use the standing position all the time! Whenever I’ve been sitting a little too long, I simply push a button and my desk rises several feet to a standing position! I can even pre-program it so that it automatically adjusts to the height I want. It’s so convenient to be able to take a break from sitting while still continuing to work without losing my train of thought! Not only that, it comes with a padded mat for you to stand on (though I often have to wrestle mine back from my girls…they love jumping on it because it’s so soft).
I ordered the smaller desk because that’s what worked for the space I had but they have different sizes and even shapes to choose from. You can also add monitor arms, keyboard trays, ergonomic foot rests and a lot more. Did I mention that you can even order one with a treadmill???
So now that I had this amazing new desk, I wanted to make my “office” a little prettier. Since our house has a coastal theme, I decided to stick with that and created some new desk accessories to match. I’m so happy with the way my Coastal Themed Message Board and Pencil Holder turned out. Not only were they easy to make, they were budget friendly as well…always a plus!
I love my new work area and it definitely makes work more fun when you have a great desk and cute accessories, don’t you think?
