Are you planning to brave the crowds on Black Friday? You may find some great deals but these are the things you’ll want to avoid buying.
Are you a dedicated Black Friday shopper or do you find yourself avoiding it like the plague? There’s never been anything I want badly enough to get me up at the crack of dawn, but there have been some years when I ventured out later in the day. While I might not get the very best deals, the crowds are a little more bearable (AND I get to sleep late)!
This year my parents are in town and can watch the girls so maybe I’ll head out to see what I can find. However, this year I’ve been doing some reading and I’ve learned a little something about these Black Friday “Deals”. Did you know that the super cheap TV or computer that people line up for at 4am are often inferior to the regular ones sold year round? Some of these items have been made by the manufacturer just for Black Friday so be sure you do your research before you buy!

Here are some more things you don’t want to buy on Black Friday:
Jewelry – You may be tempted by the sparkle but the deals won’t be worth it. The best sales come just after Valentine’s Day.
Toys – You’ll find even better deals if you wait two weeks. The drawback is that if it’s a popular item, it may not be around that long. You’ll have to make the call!
Home & Patio Furniture – January and August are the best months for new furniture deals
Airfare & Vacation Deals – You’ll find better deals in January.
Winter Clothing – You’ll definitely find some deals on Black Friday but they’ll be marked down even more if you can hold out until January.
Fitness Equipment – Not to sound like a broken record but again, you’ll want to wait until January.
Bedding & Blankets – These are typically at their lowest prices in January and February
Tools – Save this gift for Father’s Day when they are marked down the most.
DSLR Cameras – Prices get slashed significantly when new models come out in February. It’s just my luck that I bought my first DSLR two days before I found this out!
Brand Name Big Screen TV’s – Wait until a week before the Superbowl for the best deals (though you can find good Black Friday deals on lesser quality brands and models).
Cars – You’ll get the best deals just before New Year’s when dealers are trying to make way for the newest models.
Hopefully this helps you with your Black Friday shopping decisions! Are planning to get up at the crack of dawn and brave the crowds or will you be sleeping in like me?
