I receive monetary compensation from General Mills in exchange of my endorsement of Box Tops For Education.
There’s a lot that goes into getting ready for a new school year. Find out why participating in the Box Tops For Education program is an important part of our back to school routine!
The end of summer is bittersweet! I’ll miss hanging out with my girls all day but on the other hand, I might actually get some work done again. There’s a lot to do first though. We need to buy new school clothes, pick up supplies and gather up all the Box Tops we’ve been collecting all summer.
First things first, we took off to Sam’s Club to stock up on some things we needed. The beginning of the school year is so busy that if we stock up now, I may not have to go shopping again for awhile. It’s wishful thinking but a busy mom can dream, right?
Shopping at Sam’s Club is a win/win because not only do they carry our favorite General Mills products, many of these products are also part of the Box Tops For Education program. It’s a great way to support our school and we’re starting our year by turning in Box Tops we’ve collected from some of our favorite foods.
Now we’ll have even more. We needed breakfast food and instead of our usual boxes of Cheerios, I let the girls pick whatever they wanted. I thought they deserved a little treat for the first week of school. Since Keira has a sweet tooth the size of Texas, she went straight for the Lucky Charms. I can’t blame her…they do have Magical Unicorns!
Ashling’s favorite cereal has been Honey Nut Cheerios for as long as I can remember.
We also needed Chex Mix for snack time and Fruit Roll-Ups for the lunchboxes. The Bisquick is for the weekends, when I actually have time make a hot breakfast without fear of missing the bus. We stocked up on food AND had more Box Tops to turn in.
Box Tops For Education
I’ve been collecting Box Tops for years and it all started when I got my first teaching job. I’d never really paid attention to them before but once I found out how much this program helps our schools, I was totally hooked. I cut out every Box Top I could find and even my husband got in on it. When my children were old enough, I started collecting for their school too.
Every Box Top that you turn in earns money for your favorite school. This money can be used for new technology, supplies or anything else that the school budget didn’t quite cover. It adds up too! Last year our school collected over $2,200 from Box Tops! When everyone works together, it really makes a big difference.
My girls love helping me collect Box Tops because they know they’re doing something good for their school. They also have an ulterior motive. Their classes often compete to see who can collect the most and the winners get a popsicle party. They love that they’re supporting their school but there’s nothing like a good popsicle party to add a little extra motivation.
It’s easy for us to collect Box Tops because they’re on so many of the things that we already buy. It’s not just food either. You can find them on paper products, cleaning supplies, bakeware and lots more. This printable checklist from the Box Top For Education website makes it super easy to keep track of where you can find them.
The more you buy, the more you’ll earn for your child’s school. It doesn’t get much easier…just clip your Box Tops and send them in.
They’ve filled up quite a few sheets with the Box Tops we’ve been collecting all summer. I love that it gives them a sense of how we can all pull together to help our community. If they get popsicles too, even better!
