Looking for a new game for kids that’s both fun and educational? Find out why Lizzy’s World may just be their new favorite.
When you hear your kid yelling from the next room “This is the best game ever!”, you know you’ve got a hit. That’s what I heard when I introduced my six year old to Lizzy’s World, a fun new game for kids that follows the adventures of cute little redheaded Lizzy as she goes off to school for the first time.
Discovering Lizzy’s World
The game, which can be found in both the Apple Store and Google Play, begins with Lizzy waking up on the first day of school. The first thing she has to do is choose an outfit. What’s more fun than picking out clothes on the first day, right? Your child gets to help Lizzy decide what to wear.
Once she chooses an outfit, Lizzy’s mom and dad send her off to school. Kids love games they can relate to and Keira totally related to the fact that Lizzy went to school just like she does.
This was the part that had Keira yelling from the other room. She thought that putting Lizzy on the school bus was the coolest thing ever!
The part I thought was cool was that this game helps Keira with her reading skills. Lizzy’s story pops up at the bottom of each page. Your child can choose whether to have the words read to them or read them on their own. Keira has been going crazy with reading this year so she thought it was fun to read the words herself.
My girls love playing games but some of their games are just mindless. That’s okay once in awhile but it’s so much better when they play games that encourage learning too, especially when they don’t even realize that’s what’s happening! What they don’t know won’t hurt them, right?
Lizzy’s World can even be a bedtime story that you read to your child or that your child reads to you. It’s a fun way to end a busy day and there’s nothing I love more than having my children read to me. I think I enjoy it even more than when I read to them!
Keira loved following Lizzy’s adventures at school and got excited with every new screen. She loves books so when Lizzy discovered a pile of books, she was so excited!
Lizzy’s World was developed by an Academy Award winner in special effects which makes for a great storytelling experience. It’s colorful and moves quickly from screen to screen. Plus, each new room is different and fun.
There are even cute little animals! Keira had so much fun playing this game and loved that it was easy for her to play on her own.
Younger kids will enjoy this app most. Keira’s older sister (10 years old) heard Keira going on and on about it and couldn’t wait to try it. She quickly discovered it wasn’t advanced enough for her. However, Keira absolutely loves it and she’s almost seven. Younger kids will love it too, especially since they can have the story read to them if they’re not ready to read yet.
Keira really loved this game and the only downside is that I might not get my phone back for awhile!
Funny side note: When I first downloaded the app, I tried to play ahead of time so I’d be able to show Keira what to do. I couldn’t figure it out at first so I put it off. The next day, I pulled up the game for Keira and told her she could play but to call me over if she needed help. She figured it out immediately…don’t you hate it when your kids are smarter than you?
