Have you heard about all the cool changes coming to Epcot? From new rides and attractions to restaurants and play areas, this Epcot transformation is going to be magical! Find out how they’ll be celebrating Walt Disney World’s 50th birthday in style!
Are you as excited as we are about all the changes coming to Epcot. In 2021, Epcot will be celebrating it’s 50th birthday and they’re going to be doing it up big. Not only are they completely remaking the park entrance but they’re adding lots of new rides and experiences too! While the iconic Epcot ball isn’t going anywhere, even it will see some changes.
Here are some of the things that we can look forward to…
Updated Park Entrance
While there have been changes to Epcot’s front entrance over the years, now a brand new entrance is in the works! This will be a massive overhaul that takes out some of the concrete and adds a lot more greenery. There will be more pathways, a beautiful fountain and more green spaces. The new entrance is expected to be completed by Disney’s 50th anniversary in 2021, but no exact date has been given yet.
New Epcot Areas
Once the transformation is complete, Epcot will be composed of four main areas. World Showcase, World Discovery, World Celebration, and World Nature. Each will represent different aspects of the world and will feature new attractions and magical experiences. Here are some of my favorites…
World Showcase
HarmonioUS Fireworks Show
If you are a huge fan of the firework shows at Disney, then you will love the new fireworks show coming to Epcot in 2020! Featuring some of our favorite Disney songs, this new show will focus on how Disney music inspires people around the world. This show will include lights, fireworks, lasers, LED panels, and floats, similar to the Rivers Of Light at Animal Kingdom.
Mary Poppins Area in the World Showcase
This!!! I’m so excited about this addition because Mary Poppins and Mary Poppins Returns are two of my favorite Disney movies! Soon Cherry Tree Lane will be coming to the United Kingdom pavilion at Epcot! This fun interactive experience will let you stroll down the street and enter #17, home of the Banks family. I’m not entirely sure what happens after that but I can’t wait to find out!
You’ll also get the chance to meet Mary Poppins in person. She’s been at Epcot but now she’ll have a place to call her own. Throw in some of the icon music and I may just never leave!
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure Ride
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure Ride will be coming to the France pavilion in the summer of 2020! Similar to the attraction in Disneyland Paris, guest will be shrunk to the size of Chef Remy and go on a wild ride through Gusteau’s restaurant.
Beauty And The Beast Sing-A-Long
The Frozen Sing-A-Long in Hollywood Studios has been such a success that now Disney is adding a Beauty And The Beast Sing-A-Long in the France Pavilion. It’s expected to debut in January of 2020 and you can be sure you’ll see me there!
World Celebration
Spaceship Earth
Of course Spaceship Earth isn’t going anywhere but it is getting a complete makeover. It will have all new narration and music and though it will still be a journey through time, it’ll be focused on the power of storytelling.
Dreamers Point
I can’t wait to check out the new Dreamers Point, which will be located near the exit of Spaceship Earth. It’ll include a brand new statue to honor the man who started it all, Walt Disney. There will also be plenty of Disney magic including a story fountain and wishing tree in an enchanted forest.
World Discovery
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Ride
Set to open in Spring 2021, this roller coaster will be the first Marvel inspired attraction. It’s also the first Disney coaster ever to feature a reverse launch and will rotate 360 to allow riders to focus on the action.
Space 220
If you get hungry, you can head to Space 220 in winter of 2019. Simulating a space station, this restaurant features both daytime and nighttime views of planet Earth from 220 miles away.
The PLAY! Pavillion
I can’t wait to learn more about this because it sounds like a place my girls will love! Huey, Dewey, Louie and Webby host water balloon fights and Edna Mode takes on helpers to bring style to the world. This interactive city will be filled with games and experiences and some of our favorite Disney characters too.
World Nature
Journey of Water
Journey of Water is inspired by one of my favorite Disney movies, Moana. This is going to be Disney’s first Moana attraction and guests can interact with “living” water in a beautiful and serene setting.
The Epcot Experience
If you want to find out more about all the exciting things coming to Epcot, just visit The Epcot Experience inside the Odyssey Events Pavillion. A 12 minute film features the past, present and future of Epcot (and is also a great excuse to get out of the hot Florida sun for awhile).
Of course, with all these changes, there will be plenty of new Disney gear.
Disney surprised me with a fun gift box that came with this Epcot T-shirt, water bottle and Mickey Mouse ears hat….can’t wait to see what else they come up with!
There are so many awesome things coming to Epcot, I can hardly wait! I don’t know if I’m more excited about Cherry Tree Lane or Moana’s Journey Of Water. Which one are you most looking forward to seeing?
