Want to eat healthy without giving up your favorite foods? Find out how you can substitute just a few ingredients to enjoy this Cheeseburger Flatbread Pizza without the guilt. Plus, find out what other great foods are equally big on taste but low on calories.
As women, we go out of our way to look our best for special occasions, whether it’s a wedding, reunion or a vacation. I’m definitely no exception. Over the next few month, I have several big trips coming up and some of these will involve wearing a bikini. The trip I’m most excited about is our family vacation to Fiji. I plan to take plenty of pictures and instead of being behind the camera the entire time, this time I’m hoping to actually be in some of the pictures.
Of course, I’ll want to look good in those pictures so I’ve got work to do. I’d like to drop about 5-10 pounds so I’ve been running regularly and eating right. That includes cutting back on some of my favorite foods like pizza and ice cream.
I know I can do it though. When I had to lose the last few pounds after my first baby, I used the Weight Watchers® points program. I loved it because I could still eat food I liked but in moderation. It wasn’t long before I was back to my pre-baby weight.
While I’m not doing the points program this time, I’m am using Weight Watchers to help me reach my goals. By substituting foods like pizza and ice cream with Weight Watchers endorsed products, I’m still enjoying my favorite foods, just without the guilt.
I found everything I needed on my most recent trip to Walmart. I picked up JOLLYTIME Healthy Pop Popcorn in the snack aisle, Flatout Flatbread and Arnold Sandwich Thin Rolls in the bakery, and of course, Weight Watchers Giant Chocolate Fudge Bars in the freezer.
First up…snacks. I live in a house of snackers and there’s usually some sort of junk food in the pantry. I love popcorn because it keeps me from getting tempted. It tastes so good and fills me up so I try to keep plenty of JOLLYTIME Healthy Pop Popcorn on hand. Since it comes in 100 calorie packs and is only 3 SmartPoints per serving, I can snack away and feel good about it.
Next up…lunch! I love veggie sandwiches so I picked up my favorite rolls, Arnold Sandwich Thins Rolls. I actually eat these even when I’m not watching my weight because they just taste so good! They’re my favorite bread for sandwiches and great for recipes too. Since they’re a great source of fiber and only 3 SmartPoints per roll, I didn’t even have to consider cutting these out of my diet.
I also like having Flatout Flatbread in my panty because it’s great for veggie wraps and other recipes. It’s high in protein and fiber, plus the Weight Watchers endorsed Flatout Flatbreads are all 2-4 SmartPoints per serving.
While it’s great for wraps, I found Flatout Flatbread is also perfect for making flatbread pizza. When I went on their site, I found lots of yummy flatbread pizza recipes, as wells as a Weight Watchers recipe book. My favorite was the Cheeseburger Flatbread Pizza recipe and I couldn’t wait to try it for myself!
Before I did that though, I had one more thing on my list…dessert. If you think you have to give them up when you diet, you’re just not eating the right desserts. Weight Watchers Ice Cream Novelties are made from low-fat milk and are all under 100 calories. I love that they’re individually wrapped for portion control too (because we all know that adding an extra scoop is just way too easy).
There are different varieties to choose from but my favorites are the Giant Chocolate Fudge bars. When you take a bite of one of these, you won’t feel like you’ve given up a thing!
Now, back to that recipe I told you about! As soon as I saw this Thin Crust Cheeseburger Pizza recipe, I knew I had to try it. Not only did it look amazing but it’s only 3 Weight Watchers SmartPoints per serving, definitely a healthier alternative to my usual pizza.
Cheeseburger Flatbread Pizza
Start by preheating the oven to 375°, then cut your tomato. Once the oven has warmed up, place the pizza crust on a cookie sheet and bake for two minutes.
Remove the crust from the oven and sprinkle the flatbread with cheese.
While the original flatbread pizza recipe calls for lean ground beef, I made mine with ground turkey instead. Add whichever you like best and top with tomatoes.
Bake approximately two minutes, until the cheese is melted. Top with lettuce, jalapenos and mustard.
Now you can enjoy a yummy flatbread pizza guilt-free!
I topped my flatbread pizza with jalapenos but you can also substitute pickles if you like yours a little less spicy.
This flatbread pizza recipe was so good that I’ll keep making it even after I hit my goal! I may also experiment with more toppings like olives and onions.
