What does a busy mom do when she has nothing planned for dinner? If she’s anything like me, she’s winging it!
Motherhood is awesome but it’s definitely not easy. In fact, every mother out there has a list of war stories they can share and I’m no exception! I have so many war stories that the hard part is narrowing down which ones to share.
There’s the epic tantrum over a ball that made me swear I’d never go to Target again, a promise I broke the very next week. Then there’s the time we were halfway through a four hour flight to LA when my then 6 month old peed all over me as I was changing her diaper in the bathroom. It sure was fun sitting through the last two hours of the flight with soaking wet jeans (and yes, that’s my sarcastic voice).
Thank goodness those kinds of war stories don’t happen every day! Everyday life with kids can still a challenge though. My problem isn’t usually the kids themselves…it’s all the running around we have to do during the week! Between the after school activities, shopping and everything else, there are days we get home right before dinner and I realize I don’t have a thing planned! I don’t worry too much about it though because I am the queen of winging it!
Winging It When You Have Nothing Planned For Dinner
If you read my blog regularly, you’ll know that I always have two things on hand…emergency pizza and emergency wine! Red Baron pizza is so perfect for those days when you have no idea what you’re going to feed the kids. They often argue over other quickie dinners because if one wants hot dogs, the other wants spaghetti.
However, I know that when I pull out the pizza, all arguments are resolved. It’s the one food that my kids NEVER complain about getting for dinner. They might have complaints about the veggies on the side but the pizza itself always disappears right away, usually followed by demands for more pizza! It’s really a win/win! It makes dinner so easy for me to prepare and the family always loves it!
