If you don’t use a planner to organize your life, you’re missing out! Here’s why…
I’ve collaborated with Bloom Daily Planners to bring you these tips and review their planners. However, as always, all opinions are my own.
I love planners! I honestly don’t know how anyone manages to stay organized without them. For almost 15 years I’ve had a planner, though for most of that time the one I used was more like a pocket calendar. However, once I upgraded to a real planner, I never looked back! It’s amazing the difference it makes in keeping me organized and if you’re not already using a planner to organize your life, here’s why you should!

You’ll remember your appointments
I don’t know about you, but a lot of my doctor/dentist appointments are made months in advance. Even though they usually call with a reminder a day or two before any appointment, I’m embarrassed to admit that sometimes I’ve already forgotten about it by that morning. One glance at my planner reminds me about that dentist appointment that I kind of still want to forget!
It helps to keep track of work commitments
As a blogger, I have a lot of commitments that are due at different times. There are certain days blog posts are due, drafts need to be submitted, tweets have to be tweeted or an Instagram shot needs to go live. My planner helps me keep track of all these things so that I never miss a deadline!
No more belated birthday wishes
I love that Facebook reminds me of everyone’s birthday but what happens if I don’t get around to checking Facebook that day. I’ve probably sent just as many belated birthday wishes as regular wishes. If it’s in my planner, I can see it way in advance (just in case I want to also send that rare birthday card). Bonus tip: write birthdays in a different color ink so that they’re easier to spot…especially if you fill your planner up like I do!
Keep various school activities and events straight
This year will be the first that I have two children in school. I’ve already got one event scheduled and I know there will be many more to follow. If I didn’t have a planner, there’s no way I’d be able to keep the different school events, volunteer days and extra-curricular activities straight!
I have several different blog related bills that I pay each month and they’re on such random days that it can be hard to keep track of. Life would be so much easier if everything were just due on the first, wouldn’t it? On top of that, some of them get paid with PayPal and others with my business checking account. It’s nice to be able to check my planner and know what payments are going to go out on what days…no surprises!
Remember past events
I have serious mommy brain and sometimes I can barely remember what I had for dinner the night before, much less what year it was certain events happened! I’ve saved all my calendars and planners because they’ve become like mini diaries to me. I love being able to go back and look up things that we did and places that we went years ago…it’s fun to reminisce sometimes!
Piece of mind
There’s something about being organized that just brings piece of mind. You don’t have to try to remember a million different things because you can open your planner and it’s all right there in front of you. It really makes life in general so much easier!
There are so many planners out there but I really love my planner from Bloom Daily Planners! Of course, my favorite part is that they all come in such pretty patterns and colors…I’m girly that way! Their daily planner has everything that you’d typically find and more, including a spot to add a mission statement, goals for the year, things to do and more. You can also get vision planners, teacher planners and wedding planners…so much cuter than the cheap spiral bound notebook I used for my own wedding planning.
Want to spread a little kindness? You can also get these cute cards to use when you’re in the mood to pay it forward. Just do a good deed and leave this card to brighten someone’s day!
Bloom Daily Planners also offers a weekly planner that makes it easy to see your week at a glance. This grocery list is pretty awesome for helping keep track of what you need for your next shopping trip. I keep mine in my kitchen and just check things off the list as we run out. It not only makes shopping easier for me, but if hubby’s going to the store, he already has a list of what we need (so he doesn’t come home with just beer and snacks)!
If you want to be more organized, you really should have a planner. Once you start using one, you won’t know how you ever lived without it!
