I don’t know if it’s just me but I love it when my kids like the same things that I did as a child. When my girls recently told me that they loved Little House On The Prairie, it made me so happy because I remember watching it with my own mom when I was growing up.
That’s why I was so excited to hear about the new show and app for Noddy Toyland Detective. Years ago (I’m NOT going to admit how many), Noddy was a book about a toy who drove a taxi cab and had adventures along the way. My grandmother had all the books and I read them constantly whenever I went to her house. Now I’ve discovered that Dreamworks Animation TV has made Noddy into a TV show, though he’s a Toyland detective instead of a taxi driver (guess the Uber drivers put him out of business). Not only does it air on Sprout but you can also stream it on Netflix.
Now there’s a fun app to go along with the show. Designed by the same multi-award winning team at Kuato Studios that developed Dino Tales, Safari Tales and Dino Tales Jr, it not only keeps your kids entertained, it teaches literacy skills as well. This app will help your child with…
- Building language skills through reading and storytelling
- Practice question forming and sentence structure
- Developing creativity through play
- Memorizing patterns and sequences
- Word knowledge and comprehension
- Vocabulary enrichment
- Nurturing, caring and empathetic skills
I’m excited to have teamed up with Kuato Studios to give away a $25 iTunes gift card so you can download this app and more. Just scroll to the bottom of the page to enter.
I’ve had fun watching the show with my five year old and now there’s an app that goes along with it too. With his buddies Revs the car and Bumpy Dog, Noddy drives through Toyland solving mysteries based on who, what and where. Once he finds the clues, a personalized storybook tells the story of the places Noddy visited on his adventure.
My daughter loved driving the little car through Toyland. She just moved her finger where she wanted it to go and the car followed. This time she took a little shortcut through the grass to get to the clue.
There were lots of fun buildings where she could stop along the way. One of her favorite stops was a place where she could customize her car.
One stop is full of puzzles for kids to put together.
Another has different backgrounds where kids can add stickers to create a picture.
Once children find their three clues, they can read a personalized story recapping their journey. You can even set the game up to send you an e-mail so that you know when there’s a new story to read.
There’s lots more and Keira could have played it all day. The best feature was one I haven’t seen on other games. You can set a time limit of 10, 20 or 30 minutes to keep your child from playing too long. I also appreciate the makers of this game asking permission for my child to save pictures. If you’ve ever gone to your gallery and found dozens of random pictures from games, you know exactly what I mean!
This app also had an unexpected bonus. My older daughter read some of the stories to Keira and it became a bonding experience.
It’s fun that my kids have now developed the same love for Noddy what I had when I was young. If you’d like to download it for your own kids, you’ll find it in the iTunes app store and Google Play for $2.99.
