Need some yummy movie night snacks for your family movie night? This deliciously easy recipe for Sweet & Salty Caramel Popcorn Treats is perfect!

Traaa-laaa-laaaaa! Who’s excited about the upcoming release of Captain Underpants on DVD? We sure are. We’re going to snuggle up on the couch with some movie night snacks and giggle our way through!

When we took our girls to see this movie, I had no idea that I was going to love it as much as they did. I should have known that it was going to be funny…after all, it stars Ed Helms and Kevin Hart and everything they do is hilarious. My hubby and I found ourselves laughing just as much as the kids (or maybe that just proves that we’re still kids at heart).

Since we loved it so much, the girls have made me promise to buy the Captain Underpants DVD when it’s released. The Captain Underpants DVD is will be available in Walmart stores 9/12 so be sure to reserve your copy now by pre-ordering today (while supplies last)! They didn’t really have to twist my arm very hard…this is such great pick for family movie night.

Of course, you need movie night snacks, right? Popcorn is a must and we always have a big box of Pop Secret on hand. I always throw an extra box in the cart when I’m shopping at Walmart. I love the buttery taste and it’s fun to make popcorn when we’re getting together with family and friends.

Popcorn and crackers combined make one of my favorite movie night snacks

This time I wanted to do something a little different. Since I’d also bought Lance sandwich crackers on my last Walmart trip, I thought I’d combine them with the popcorn to make fun movie night snacks. I’m a big fan of Lance crackers because they’re perfect for our busy everyday life. When I know we’re going to be out and about for awhile, I just throw a few packs in my purse for when we get the mid-day munchies. They fill us right up so we can keep on going.

I usually get the variety pack because my oldest loves the crackers with real peanut butter and my youngest prefers the cheese. It’s a bonus that they contain up to 5 grams of protein and no high fructose corn syrup. Of course, it also doesn’t hurt that they taste so good!

Hmm…what could I make with Pop Secret and Lance crackers? I went straight to the shelf in the pantry where I keep all the best goodies. I pulled out some marshmallows and chocolate chips and my recipe started to take shape. Caramel? Sure, why not. Everything tastes better with caramel!

How To Make Sweet & Salty Caramel Movie Night Snacks

Start by popping a bag of the Pop Secret popcorn in the microwave. While it’s popping, take three packages of Lance Peanut Butter Crackers and break them into pieces. When the popcorn is ready, combine the crackers and four cups of popcorn in a big bowl.

Combine crackers and popcorn in a bowl for your movie night snacks

Melt butter over low heat and add three cups of marshmallows.

Melt marshmallows on the stove

Stir the marshmallows until completely melted, then add the popcorn and crackers.

Add the popcorn snack ingredients to the melted marshmallows

The marshmallows may look a little stringy as you’re stirring the mixture but that’s okay. You won’t see that when they’re finished.

Mix the popcorn snack ingredients

Pour the mixture into an 8×8 glass pan and spread evenly. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the top. You’ll want to be sure that the mixture is still a little warm. That way the chocolate will melt slightly and stick to the popcorn mix. You don’t want the chocolate chips falling off as you’re trying to eat these. Wasted chocolate is a terrible thing!

Put the marshmallow snack mix into a glass pan and add chocolate chips

Now it’s time for the caramel. Melt caramel pieces in a saucepan over low heat.

Heat caramel on the store

Once the caramel is fully melted, drizzle it over the top.

Drizzle caramel over your snack bars

I love the way these turned out! Who knew popcorn and crackers were such a perfect combination?!

Cut into bars to make perfect movie night snacks

Needless to say, our new movie night snacks were a hit. These were absolutely delicious and I’ll definitely be making them for our Captain Underpants family night!

My hubby loved these more than anyone and went back for seconds! I think I’m also going to make these right before I tell him about the new camera equipment I want to buy. It never hurts to butter him up a little!
