Remember how carefree life was before the kids came along? My biggest worry was where my hubby and I were going to go out for dinner or coordinating everyone’s schedule for a Girl’s Night Out. Then that first baby comes and you’re worried about everything. You worry because they cry too much. Then they don’t cry and you find yourself running into their room to check that they’re still breathing! You worry that you’re feeding them too much, then question if you’re feeding them enough. You’d think it would get easier as they get older but then you just find new things to worry about.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t worry all the time. I love being a mom and my girls and I have a lot of fun together. It’s just that when you’re a mom, keeping your kids safe is always in the back of your mind. It’s just your natural instinct to protect your children. Right now it’s pretty easy because aside from school, they’re with me most of the time. However, one day they’ll be driving (talk about a worried mom!) and then heading off to college. It seems like a long way off but I know it will happen in the blink of an eye.
Thank goodness for technology! When my girls do leave the nest and head off to college, I’d like for them to have an easy way to get help if they ever find themselves in trouble. There are other safety apps out there and most work by pinpointing your child’s location using their smartphone. Others store their information and photographs in case of emergency. However, I haven’t found any other apps with all the safety features that the Wearsafe app offers.
For starters, the Wearsafe app that comes with a small tag that can be easily attached to a key chain, purse or even clothing.
It works with your child’s Android or iPhone and one push of the button alerts friends and family if they’re in any kind of trouble. It’s also much smaller than a cell phone, making it more convenient and discreet.
The app uses GPS to immediately let you know if your child is traveling or stationary, sends live audio from the scene and creates a group chat in a virtual situation room so that alerted friends and family members can decide how to proceed. There are no other products on the market that offer the safety of a GPS feature, audio and group chat combined.
Another advantage is the price! When you sign up for the app online, the tag is sent to you for free. After that, the app subscription is $5 per month with no long term commitments, about the price of a latte from your local coffee shop, but you can Try it free right now. To me it’s totally worth the peace of mind it brings!
While my initial thought was that this would be perfect when my girls are away at college, it can be useful in so many other situations too. I’m definitely going to be sure they have the Wearsafe app when they start driving and attending events on their own. Plus, it can even keep me safe when I go running. Hopefully my girls will never even need to use this but I’d much rather have it and never use it than the other way around. So even though I’ll have my little sweeties by my side for a few more years, I’m thinking ahead and feeling good about my options!
