Instructions

  • First, assemble all of your supplies. Remove the metal springs from your standard wooden clothespins. Each reindeer requires two full clothespins, and you’ll need to line them up on your work area to make a V shape.

  • Next, glue the clothespin pieces together using your hot glue gun.

  • The next step is to paint the body of the reindeer with brown acrylic paint. You can use any shade of brown you like best. Acrylic paint dries relatively quickly, which is nice if you find that the clothespins need a second coat.

  • After your clothespins are fully dried, the next steps are to use small drops of hot glue to attach the googly eyes and the red pom pom nose.
  • Now it's time to add a little bit of personality to your clothespin reindeer pair. Tie the skinny plaid ribbon into a bow and glue it to one reindeer’s neck. Attach the mini holly leaf and red berries to the side of the clothespin on the second reindeer.

  • Once your little reindeer is completely assembled, you’re ready to glue on the twine. Cut 12” of natural twine and tie in a circle. Then glue the loop to the back of the reindeer, making sure each one is large enough to easily fit on a Christmas tree branch.

Notes

  • Hot Glue Alternative: If you don’t have a hot glue gun or you’ve run out of glue sticks, you can substitute liquid craft glue instead. However, it will take longer for your clothespin reindeer to dry if you go this route.
  • Reduce cleanup time by setting your clothespin reindeer on a paper plate to dry.
  • Don't want to try making your own bow? You can buy premade bows on Amazon too.
