Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 3 tbsp Powdered sugar optional

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease an 8x8 baking dish.
  • Combine flour and baking powder in a medium bowl.
    1 1/3 cup all-purpose flour, 2 tsp baking powder
  • Use a hand or stand mixer to cream butter and sugar together until smooth. Add egg, vanilla and milk. Beat together on low speed until combined.
2/3 cup granulated sugar, 2/3 cup milk, 1/4 cup butter, 1 egg, 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients a little at a time and mix well. Pour into prepared baking dish.
  • Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes. Cake is done when a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean. Cool on cooling rack.
  • Dust with powdered sugar (optional) and enjoy!
    3 tbsp Powdered sugar

Notes

  • Don’t always trust the time on a recipe. Ovens bake differently so it’s always best to test your cake by inserting a long toothpick in center of the cake to be sure it’s done.
