Ingredients

Instructions

  • Spray your pan with non-stick cooking spray and set it aside.
  • Add 5 cups marshmallows and 3 tablespoons butter to a large mixing bowl.
20 cups Mini Marshmallows, 12 tbsp Unsalted Butter
  • Cook for about 2 minutes over medium heat, until the butter and marshmallows are melted. Mix well.
  • Add about ¼ teaspoon of white gel food coloring to the marshmallow and butter mixture and stir well. This will help brighten up the off-white color of the cereal.

  • Add 4 cups of rice cereal and mix until all the cereal is coated.
    16 cups Rice Krispies
  • Place the mixture in the prepared pan and spread it in a layer that covers the entire bottom of the pan. Using your hand or the bottom of a measuring cup, press the layer flat.
  • Repeat steps 2-5 for the next layer but color it black instead of white. Press the black layer into to the pan on top of the white layer.
    Black Gel Food Coloring
  • Repeat the steps for another white layer and another black layer, ending with the fourth layer as black.
  • Sprinkle the top with the white sprinkles. Cover and let rest for 4 hours or until set. Slice, serve, and enjoy!

Notes

  • If your black coloring produces a dark purple color rather than full black, add 3 drops or so of yellow food coloring to make it true black.
  • If your marshmallows are too wet, you can add a bit more cereal. If they’re too dry, melt a bit more marshmallow and butter together and mix it in.
  • Spray your hands with cooking spray or put a layer of parchment paper or wax paper on top when pressing the layers into the pan. It will prevent the mixture from sticking.
