Hi! I’m Lisa…mommy, wife, former teacher turned blogger and lover of coffee, wine and travel! There’s nothing I love more than hanging out with my two sweet girls…
…or sneaking away for a date night with my hubby.
I also LOVE to travel and it’s my dream to travel the world and hit all seven continents (but I’m saving Antarctica for last because I don’t like being cold)! I’m only at three right now so if you have connections with The Amazing Race, please have them give me a call!
I taught Kindergarten for 14 years but became a stay at home mom when we moved to Florida in 2014. It was something I’d always wanted to do! However, I needed to find a way to entertain myself for those times when the kids were in bed and hubby was working late. I can only binge watch so many shows on Netflix! One night as I was enjoying a glass of wine and shopping online, the proverbial light bulb popped on over my head and my first blog, a shopping blog, was born.
I named it Fun Money Finds. Fun Money was the money that I spent on fun stuff like shoes and nights out with my girlfriends. This was going to be a blog about where to find fun places to spend that money. It was ironic since I’d just quit my job and didn’t have a lot of extra money to blow.
However, I soon realized that I wanted to write about topics that were more relevant to me and my friends. I changed the name to Fun Money Mom and started writing about food, parenting, saving money, etc. Eventually I added travel too, since I could write a whole blog just on our Disney trips alone.
Over the past three years, Fun Money Mom has become more of a lifestyle blog covering a variety of topics. Originally I was going to return to teaching after a two year break. However, blogging has become my passion and I’ve never looked back. After all, what other job is there where you find yourself baking desserts one day and holding cute baby alligators the next?!
In addition to Fun Money Mom, I recently co-founded Beautiful Budget Life, a blog that focuses on all the ways you can live a beautiful life, even if you’re on a budget. I’m also a regular contributor at Traveling Mom (look for me as “Do It All Traveling Mom”) and occasionally the Huffington Post. If you live in Sarasota, you may also catch me sharing crafts from time to time on Suncoast View.
Thanks so much for stopping by my little corner of the internet. I hope you’ve enjoyed it and will come back to visit again!
