About Me

I’m Lisa…mommy, wife, former teacher turned blogger and lover of coffee, wine and travel!  There’s nothing I love more than hanging out with my two sweet girls…

and sneaking away for a Disney day with my hubby!

How did my blog come about? Well, after teaching Kindergarten for 14 years, I became a stay at home mom when we moved to Florida. It was something I’d always wanted to do and I loved having the extra time with my family. However, I quickly realized that I had to find a way to entertain myself on those nights when the kids were in bed and hubby was working late.

One night as I was enjoying a glass of wine and shopping online, the proverbial light bulb popped on over my head and my blog was born. I named it Fun Money Finds after the “fun money” that I would use to treat myself to fun stuff like shoes and nights out with my girlfriends.

Yup…this was going to be a shopping blog about where to find the best deals on fancy clothing and fabulous nights out. The irony was that since I’d just quit my job, I didn’t have any extra money to blow. I guess I didn’t think that through very clearly!

It didn’t take long to realize that I’d rather write about topics that were more relevant to me and my friends. I changed the name to Fun Money Mom and shifted my focus to food, kids activities, saving money, etc. Eventually I added travel too, since I could write a whole blog just on our Disney trips alone.

Though the original plan was to take just two years off, I had discovered a new passion and never looked back! After all, what other job is there where you find yourself holding cute baby alligators one day…

In addition to Fun Money Mom, you can also occasionally catch me co-hosting and sharing crafts, gift ideas, Disney tips and more on Sarasota’s Suncoast View.

Thanks so much for stopping by my little corner of the internet. I’m always adding new recipes, crafts, travel tips and more so I hope you’ll keep coming back for more fun!
