Ingredients

Instructions

  • Start by making your unicorn horn. Roll it into a snake-like shape, but thicker at one end. Next, start with the thicker end at the bottom and coil it into a cone shape. Pinch the bottom together so it doesn't come apart and bake according to the directions on the package (mine took about 30 minutes).

  • If you're using a styrofoam pumpkin, break the pumpkin stem off before you paint. These are usually held in by wooden picks so they're easy to remove.

Paint your pumpkin with white paint. I find that acrylic makes the perfect white pumpkin paint. I use glossy but flat works just as well. Let the first coat dry, then add a second coat.

  • Once the paint is completely dry, use a permanent black marker to draw closed eyes. If you're a perfectionist, you may want to draw them with pencil first, then trace over them.

  • Paint the horn with gold paint and let dry. Once dry, attach it to the top of the pumpkin using a hot glue gun. If you are using a pumpkin with a stem that doesn't easily break off, just glue the horn in front of it, pointing slightly forward (you can cover the stem with flowers later).

  • Take the silk flowers and pull them off the stems.

  • Hot glue the flowers around the horn and then down the right side of the pumpkin to make the unicorn's mane.

  • Take craft foam and cut two white ears. Be sure that they are tall enough that they won't be hidden by the flowers. Then cut slightly smaller ear shapes from pink craft foam. Hot gllue the pink pieces to the front of the white pieces.
  • Use hot glue to glue the bottom of the ears among the flowers and that's all there is to it! Now you've got the cutest floral unicorn pumpkin for Halloween (and you didn't even need a carving knife)!

Notes

You can also roll glitter paper or craft foam to make the horn. Just cut them into cone shapes and glue them to the top of the pumpkin.
