Equipment

  • Glue glue gun or white craft glue like Elmers
  • Thin paintbrush

Ingredients

Instructions

  • Glue 4 popsicle sticks together to make a square shape.
Four wooden craft sticks forming a square on a white surface, with four additional sticks lying above the square.
  • Glue 4 more sticks on top of those, also in a square shape. This will give you a "slot" to add the photo. Let glue dry.
A hand holds a small, rectangular frame made of popsicle sticks; a black hot glue gun is visible in the background on a white surface.
  • Cut two pieces of foam craft to fit the top and bottom of the frame. You'll want them to be slightly shorter than the width of the frame. On one, paint "My Dad" and on the other, paint "Rocks". Let dry.
Two tan foam cutouts with black text read "MY DAD" and "ROCKS" on a white surface, next to craft sticks, a paintbrush, a paper plate, and black paint.
  • Trim your photo and insert it into the frame. Be sure you don't trim too much to start...you can always cut more off.
A framed photo of three people standing on a beach with a pier in the background, next to another photo showing only legs and feet in sandals and sneakers on sand.
  • Flip the frame to the back. Add a drop of glue at the top of the photo and a drop of glue at the bottom to hold it in place.
A square frame made of wooden popsicle sticks with a blank white insert, featuring two red arrows pointing to glue spots at the top and bottom.
  • Glue your craft foam to the top and bottom of the frame, then add rocks.
Framed photo saying "My Dad Rocks" decorated with small stones, showing a man, woman, and child standing on a beach with a pier in the background.
  • Finally, glue a popsicle stick to the back, at an angle, to act as the picture stand. Make sure you use a good amount of glue so that it stays put.
A small picture frame made of popsicle sticks and decorated with pebbles is standing upright on a white surface.
  • Once the glue dries, you're good to go...you've got the perfect Father's Day gift for dad!
A framed photo decorated with stones shows a man, a woman, and a young girl on a beach. The frame reads "MY DAD ROCKS." Loose stones are scattered around the frame.

Notes

  • It may be easier for younger kids to write their message with a Sharpie, rather than paint.
  • Instead of a popsicle stick stand, you can add magnets to the back and use it to decorate the refrigerator.
  • I like craft foam best but if you don't have any on hand, you can use construction paper or cardstock instead.
