Ground Beef Taco Dip

Made with savory seasoned ground beef and just a few other simple ingredients, this Ground Beef Taco Dip is the ultimate appetizer for game day, holiday gatherings or just for snacking on movie nights.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 16 ounces sour cream
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 2 packets taco seasoning mix
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
  • 2 medium tomatoes diced
  • 1 can black olives (2.25 ounces)

Instructions

  • Crumble beef and brown it in a skillet over medium heat, breaking up any large chunks with a wooden spoon.

  • Drain off the excess fat, then stir in one packet of taco mix and ¾ cup water and Simmer until the water boils off, about 5 minutes. Set aside.
    2 packets taco seasoning mix , 3/4 cup water
  • In a medium bowl, mix sour cream, cream cheese and the second seasoning packet. Mix together until all of the cream cheese mixture is smooth and creamy.
    16 ounces sour cream, 8 ounces cream cheese, 2 packets taco seasoning mix
  • Pour sour cream mixture into an 8×8 baking dish and spread evenly.
  • Add ground meat to the top of the sour cream layer make the next layer.

  • Top the ground beef layer with shredded cheese.
    1 lb ground beef, 1 cup cheddar cheese
  • Finally, add lettuce, diced tomatoes and black olives.
    1 1/2 cups shredded lettuce, 2 medium tomatoes, 1 can black olives (2.25 ounces)

Notes

  • Next time you have leftover taco meat, freeze it for later to make this recipe even easier.
  • This recipe uses ground beef but you could also use ground chicken, breakfast sausage or even ground turkey.
