Instructions

  • Print the pattern sheet, then cut out the templates. Pin a tie pattern onto the following colors: ruby, black, Kelly green and royal blue, then cut out the tie shapes.

  • Use the ruler and marker to measure two pieces of gold and silver gray felt 3/4" wide by 12" long and 1/4" wide by 12" long.
Felt strips to make stripes on Hogwarts ties
  • Starting from the bottom line of the tie base, fit gold stripes to the black and ruby ties and silver grey stripes to the royal blue and Kelly green ties. You can use one of the 3/4" stripes as a spacer. Roughly cut the lengths of felt with scissors.

Notes

If you're planning to use this as a birthday party activity, you can save time by cutting out the pieces ahead of time. Separate them into individual plastic bags (with the pieces for one tie in each bag) so that each child gets a bag with all the pieces they'll need.
