Equipment

Ingredients

  • 30 ounces white candy melts
  • 24 Oreo cookies
  • 6 ounces red candy melts
  • 1/2 tablespoon vegetable oil optional

Instructions

  • Add the white candy melts to a bowl and microwave for 60 seconds. Stir, then heat in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth. You can stir in ½ tablespoon vegetable oil to thin the coating, if needed.

  • Using a fork, dip each cookie into the melted coating, flip to cover both sides, then tap off excess on the side of the bowl.

  • Place dipped cookies on a wax paper-lined baking sheet and chill for about 15 minutes, or until set.
  • Use a round cutter or the edge of a cap to lightly press a curved groove where the stitches will go.
  • Melt red candy melts in 30-second intervals until smooth. Add to a plastic squeeze bottle, piping bag, or sandwich bag with a snipped corner.
    6 ounces red candy melts
  • Trace along the grooves with red candy. Next, pipe small diagonal lines for the stitches.
  • Let the cookies sit at room temp or chill again briefly until the red candy is set. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Use a toothpick to fix any lines or smudges after piping.
  • If your red melts are too thick, add a tiny bit of vegetable oil.
  • You may want to practice one or two stitches on parchment before decorating the cookies.
  • Let cookies fully set in the fridge before decorating so the red lines don’t smear.
