Philly Cheesesteak Sliders

With tender steak slices, gooey melted cheese, and sauteed onions and peppers, these philly cheesesteak sliders are a great recipe for game day, parties, or even a busy weeknight meal.

  • 12 Hawaiian slider rolls
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound thinly sliced steak
  • 1 green bell pepper sliced
  • 1 yellow onion sliced
  • ½ teaspoon Kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 6 slices provolone cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon seasoned salt optional
  • Fresh parsley chopped for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally.

  • Place the bottom halves into a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the steak. Cook until the steak begins to brown, or about 5 minutes. Drain the excess fat from the skillet.

  • Next, add the green peppers, onions, salt, and pepper. Sauté everything together for 3 minutes.

  • Spread a layer of mayonnaise on the bottom halves of the slider rolls.

  • Evenly spoon the steak, onions, and peppers onto the bottom of the rolls.
  • Place slices of provolone cheese to cover the steak, peppers, and onion mixture.

  • In a small bowl, whisk together melted butter, garlic powder, and seasoned salt.

  • Place the top halves of the rolls on top of the cheese. Then, evenly brush the tops of the slider rolls with the butter mixture.
  • Loosely cover the sliders with foil and place them in the oven.
  • Bake for 10 minutes, then remove the foil and continue baking for another 10 minutes, or until the tops of the Philly cheese steak sliders are brown and the cheese is melted.
  • Garnish with parsley. Cut and serve immediately.

Notes

Traditional Philly cheesesteak uses thinly sliced ribeye steak, skirt steak, or sirloin. If your grocery store sells Steak-Ums (shaved steak), that works well also. As a short cut, you can even use leftover or deli roast beef. Ground beef is another great option.
