Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 8 oz cooked salmon– flaked
  • 1 green onion thinly sliced
  • Optional: a few dashes of hot sauce for a little kick

Instructions

  • In a medium mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth and creamy.
    8 oz cream cheese
  • Add the sour cream, mayonnaise, lemon juice, lemon zest, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper, then mix until well combined.
½ cup sour cream, 1 tbsp mayonnaise, 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice, 1 tsp lemon zest, 1 tsp Dijon mustard, ½ tsp garlic powder, ½ tsp smoked paprika, Salt and black pepper
  • Fold the flaked salmon and green onion into the cream cheese mixture.
8 oz cooked salmon– flaked, 1 green onion
  • Mix until evenly blended smooth.
  • Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed, adding more lemon juice for brightness, smoked paprika for depth, or hot sauce for a little heat.
  • Chill the dip for at least 30 minutes so the flavors can meld. Then garnish with fresh herbs or parsley, and serve with crackers, bagel crisps, pita chips, or fresh veggies.

Notes

  • You can store leftover seafood dip in the fridge for up to 3 days. Give it a good stir before serving and I like to refresh it with a squeeze of lemon juice. I do not recommend freezing leftovers.
  • Use softened cream cheese to ensure a smooth, creamy dip with no lumps.
  • A hand mixer or food processor gives an ultra-smooth texture, while stirring by hand leaves it chunkier and rustic.
  • If you’re using smoked salmon, skip or reduce the salt to prevent over-seasoning.
  • Chill the dip for at least 30 minutes before serving so the flavors can meld.
  • For a thinner texture, mix in a little heavy cream or extra sour cream.
  • Keep in mind, if you are using leftover salmon that has already been seasoned, it will affect the flavor of the dip.
