Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger grated
  • 1 lb sirloin steak cut into cubes
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • green onion for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, and grated ginger. Mix well until the sugar dissolves.

  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, sear the steak cubes for about 3-4 minutes on each side until they develop that flavorful brown crust. Remove the beef and set aside.

  • Add the chopped onions to the skillet and cook them for 2-3 minutes until they soften and turn translucent.

  • Add your beef back to the skillet and stir to combine with the onions.
  • Simmer for another 3-4 minutes until it thickens slightly and the flavors meld together.
  • Garnish with chopped green onions and serve hot over rice, noodles, or your favorite vegetables.

Notes

  • Before cooking, pat the steak dry with a paper towel. This helps it brown better and keeps it from steaming in the pan.
  • Make sure the skillet is hot before adding the steak. This ensures you get a quick sear on the outside with juicy meat inside.
  • When searing the beef bites, be sure not to overcrowd the pan. It will cause them to steam instead of searing.
