Instructions

  • Paint your pumpkin with the teal acrylic paint. You will need 2-3 coats.
A pumpkin painted teal sits next to a bottle of teal acrylic paint, a paper plate with paint, and a paintbrush on a white surface.
  • Glue a large rhinestone to the front of your pumpkin, about halfway between the center and the top of the pumpkin.
A teal pumpkin with a shiny, oval-shaped gem attached to its surface, photographed on a plain white background.
  • Glue another rhinestone, any size, in the same spot on the back of the pumpkin. This will help you keep the rhinestones lined up and symmetrical.
A small teal pumpkin with a single round purple gem attached to its surface, placed on a plain white background.
  • Place four medium rhinestones, evenly spaced, on top of the pumpkin. This will also help you line up the next rhinestones.
A teal pumpkin with a small stem, decorated with five clear rhinestones, displayed on a plain white background.
  • Start from the large rhinestone on the front and make a line of smaller rhinestones to each of the two top front ones. I gave mine a little "droop", for lack of a better word. Now connect the two front rhinestones to the next ones and finally have them meet at the one on the back.
A teal pumpkin decorated with a necklace-like pattern of silver and clear rhinestones, set against a plain white background.
  • Now make another row of rhinestones. I started by adding a large one to each side, then connecting them with smaller ones, meeting at the one in the back again. I gave these a little "droop" too.
A small, teal-painted pumpkin decorated with silver rhinestones arranged in curved lines and patterns.
  • Finally make a row of rhinestones across the top, connecting the large rhinestone in front to the one in the back.

  • To make the feather fan, start by gluing feathers to a piece of craft foam or cardboard. Don't worry what it looks like...you won't see it when you're finished.
Bright orange feathers are glued onto a small rectangular piece of blue paper, with additional loose feathers scattered nearby on a white surface.
  • Keep adding feathers until you have a good base. Once I added enough feathers, I realized I'd need to make it sturdier, so I added another larger piece of craft foam to the back.
An orange rectangular object rests on a cluster of orange feathers against a plain white background.
  • Keep adding feathers, overlapping each other and covering the craft foam or cardboard, until you have a large feather fan.
A cluster of bright orange feathers lies next to a green, bejeweled decorative object on a white surface.
  • Use hot glue to attach it to the back of the pumpkin. You'll want the bottom of the fan to be flush with the bottom of the pumpkin. This will help keep it from falling over backwards Note: Be sure the feathers at the bottom are attached firmly to the fan or it won't stick to the pumpkin.

  • Now display your sparkly pumpkin and impress all your Swiftie friends!

Notes

  • Making these for a party? I always paint the pumpkins ahead of time so party day is just for decorating.
  • I've linked to the paints I used but you can purchase them at a craft store for less. You can also use any similar colors.
  • If you want to add the record, you can find cheap ones at most thrift stores.
