This Unicorn Milkshake is a colorful, over-the-top treat that’s just as fun to make as it is to drink. With bright swirls, sweet flavors, and playful decorations, it’s perfect for parties, sleepovers, or a fun family treat at home.
Start by taking three small balls of fondant, one for each color you plan to use. One at a time, flatten the fondant slightly (to about the size of a quarter) and add a drop of food coloring to the center.
White fondant, Food coloring
Knead the fondant between your fingers until the color is blended throughout. Work in more food coloring for darker shades or more white fondant to get lighter shades.
Roll each piece into a rope-like shape that becomes thinner as you go.
Twist the fondant together, starting with the thick ends. Pinch the thick ends together to keep the horn from unraveling.
Twist the fondant together until you have your unicorn horn. If it’s too long, just trim a little off the top and twist some more. Finally, insert a lollipop stick (or a wooden skewer) into the thick end. This will keep the horn from sinking into your milkshake.
Lollipop stick or long wooden skewer
To make the unicorn ears, flatten two pieces of white fondant into an oval and pinch the ends. Do the same with two pieces of pink fondant, just make them slightly smaller.
White fondant
Attach the pink fondant to the white with a gentle pinch. You may want to poke a toothpick into the bottom of each, just to help the ears stay upright once you add them to the whipped cream.

Finally, color some fondant black for the lashes.
For The Colored Whipped Cream
Make your whipped cream the way you normally would. Combine whipping cream and powdered sugar in a large bowl and use the whisk attachment on your stand mixer (or hand mixer) to whip until stiff peaks form.
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream, 1/4 cup powdered sugar
Next, place an icing tip into a piping bag and drape the bag over the sides of a tall glass. Add a few drops of food coloring around the sides of the bag (I used six drops, two of each color).
Food coloring
Take a knife or an extra lollipop stick and spread the lines of food coloring a little.
Now fill the bag with whipped cream. You’ll be able to see the color on the sides. Place the whipped cream in the refrigerator until you're ready for it.
Decorating The Glass
Get your milkshake glass or a mason jar ready by spreading frosting around the outside rim. You can also use marshmallow creme if you don’t have frosting.
White frosting
Add sprinkles, pushing them gently into the icing so that they stay put.

To Make The Milkshake
Add four scoops of ice cream to your blender container.
2 cups Vanilla Ice Cream
Next, pour milk over the ice cream. I didn’t add any extra flavoring this time but if you really want to go all out, you can add fun extracts like cotton candy or cake batter.
1/2 cup milk
Blend until smooth and creamy, then divide into three small glasses. Add a drop of food coloring to each and stir.
Pour into milkshake glass, a layer at a time (the layers will blend quickly but they look really pretty when you first pour them in!)
Top the milkshake with whipped cream.
Add the unicorn horn and ears. I even added some candy flowers, just for fun.

Finally, add the unicorn eyes, using frosting to stick them to the front of the glass.
Notes
Fondant can dry out quickly. Be sure to wrap up your remaining fondant first so that it’ll be fresh and pliable for the next time you want to use it.
Save time by making the fondant garnishes the day before. Just wrap in plastic wrap and store at room temperature until ready to use.
If the fondant feels stiff while shaping, warm it in your hands for a minute to make it easier to roll and twist.
Chill the piping bag with whipped cream for a few minutes before piping to help the colors stay defined.
Blend the milkshake just until smooth. Over-blending can thin it out and cause the colors to mix too much.
