Thanks to the Holiday Inn Disney Orlando - Disney Springs™ Area for providing us with our hotel room for this stay. As always, all opinions are my own.
When we moved to Florida a couple years ago, the first thing we did was buy annual passes to Disney World. Since it's a 90 minute drive, sometimes it was easier just to plan mini vacations instead of driving there and back all in one day. While the drive there always seems short, the drive home late at night feels like 5 hours. Sometimes it's easier to get a hotel room and chill.
There are tons of Orlando hotels to choose from but one of my favorites is the Holiday Inn Disney Springs! We stayed there for the first time last year and originally chose it just for the location. We loved that it was close enough to Disney Springs that we could put the girls in strollers and walk. If they passed out in their strollers, we could still wander around and enjoy ourselves knowing that we were just a short walk away from the hotel.
While we really liked the location, I quickly realized that it was also one of the most budget friendly choices. While their rates are already very reasonable, that's not the only way that staying at the Holiday Inn Disney Springs saves you money. Here are a few more...
No Resort Fees
Not only is it in the perfect location (it's the only IHG hotel located on Disney owned property worldwide), it's the only one of the 7 Disney Springs hotels that doesn't charge a resort fee. That's big, especially if you plan to skip the amenities and spend your days at the theme parks. While you're there, they'll also give you all the benefits of an Official Disney Hotel.
Kids Eat Free Program
We have a family of four so eating out can get expensive. I can only imagine how fast it adds up when you have a bigger family. The great thing about staying here is that you can take advantage of their Kids Eat Free Program. Up to four kids under 12 can eat free, any time of the day. Have a big breakfast before you leave for the parks and you'll save a ton. Hannah and I enjoyed breakfast before our conference and it was delish!
Disney Theme Park Shuttles
It costs $20 to park at the Disney theme parks. If you go for several days in a row, that's a lot of money that you could be spending on more important things like popcorn and Dole Whips. Holiday Inn has free shuttles to the parks every half hour. They also have nightly shuttles to Disney Springs and if you're going to the Water Parks, they have scheduled service there as well.
You also save money with free WiFi, Keurig coffee machines (much cheaper than heading to Starbucks) and a mini fridge so you can keep extra snacks and drinks on hand.
All of these things are great, but if the hotel isn't nice, none of that matters, right? Luckily that's not a problem here. This hotel is great! While I usually travel to Orlando with my family, I recently met up with my friend and blogging partner Hannah to attend a blog conference. Since we're both busy moms with crazy schedules, we decided to ditch the kids and go a day early to relax and have fun in Disney Springs. Every mom needs a Girl's Night Out once in awhile, right?
Just like previous visits, I noticed right away how friendly the staff is. The girl that checked me in at reception couldn't have been any nicer...I almost wanted to invite her to GNO with us! When I went up to the room, it was just as expected, clean and welcoming.
I started to check out the view but got sidetracked by the Keurig. I can't pass one of these things without making myself a cup of coffee!
Coffee in hand, I checked out the balcony and it looked right out onto Disney Springs. Wow...what a view! I was told that you can even see the fireworks at night. Now I know which room to request for my next visit!
Hannah arrived and we headed out to have fun in Disney Springs, but not before we checked out the rest of the hotel. Hmm...is it too early for wine?
In addition to the bar, there's also an internet cafe, 24 hour fitness center and a small Disney Store, great for those last minute souvenirs. Though we didn't have time to hang by the pool, we swung by to check it out and I'm definitely planning to be poolside on my next visit. It was a beautiful setting but also perfect for kids. If you have little ones, you'll love the zero entry feature.
As we were leaving, Hannah stumbled across a hidden gem. There was a cute herb garden tucked away just off the pool area.
Finally it was off to Disney Springs, but not before the awesome valets made sure we had ice cold bottled water for the short walk. There's a reason this Holiday Inn is one of my favorite places to stay...okay, several reasons! The price is right, the location can't be beat and they do everything they can to make sure you want to come back again (and it works).
