Tips & Tricks

  • For the best taste, use bananas that are ripe, but not overly ripe. You want them to have plenty of flavor but retain their texture, so they don’t turn mushy. You can also toss the sliced bananas in a little lemon juice to prevent browning.
  • The cream cheese makes this fluff rich and a little more dense. If you prefer it a bit fluffier, you can use a little less or add more whipped topping to the mix.
  • If you have a favorite banana pudding recipe, you can use that as the base for this fluff, rather than the boxed pudding mix. You can also substitute instant vanilla pudding for the banana.
  • Mix in some peanut butter or chocolate chips to give this dessert an added layer of rich flavor.
  • Pour this into a graham cracker crust for a fun twist on a banana cream pudding pie.

How do I store banana fluff salad?

This recipe is best made and served the same day, so I’d plan to make only as much as you want to serve immediately. The longer it sits, the bananas will start to turn brown and get mushy.

Can this recipe be made ahead of time?

Yes, you can make this the day before if you like. However, your cookies will get soggy (which some people prefer) so just keep that in mind. Wait to add the cookies on top until just before serving.
