Perdue Premium Proteins

What a lot of people don't know is that Perdue Farms is a lot more than just chicken! They actually have an entire line of high quality protein products and brands. These include not only Perdue Chicken and Perdue Harvestland but brands like Niman Ranch, Coleman Natural, Panorama Meats, Spot Farms, Full Moon and more.

The best part is that now you can even have these brands delivered straight to your door. Perdue Farms has been partnering with small family farmers to create a new direct-to-consumer website where you can order your choice of premium proteins and have them shipped to your home.

As a busy mom, I'm totally on board with having my food delivered but I also like that Perdue Farms is doing it in a way that lessens their carbon footprint. Whenever a box is shipped, they donate to the Arbor Day Foundation to help replant our nation's forests. Not only that, the boxes were made with sustainability in mind. The cardboard is 100% recyclable and insulated with a biodegradable, compostable and dissolvable eco-friendly packaging.

Besides helping the environment, they're helping out busy moms everywhere by saving us time and energy! I'm all for making life easier and anything that saves me a trip to the grocery store is a big win. Perdue Farms hits it out of the park with this one!

I really like the variety of Perdue products that are available to order and you can order by protein, brand or curated bundle. My curated bundle had a great mix:

  • Coleman Natural Uncured Hickory Smoked Bacon
  • Panko Breaded Dino Nuggets, Perdue Harvestland
  • Harvestland Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast Tenderloins
  • Niman Ranch Uncured Bacon Wrapped With Rosemary Pork Chops
  • Niman Ranch Uncured Pork Breakfast Sausage

When you place your first order, you'll get 10% off AND free Perdue Havestland Diced Chicken Breasts. This Family Box (medium) is $64.99 on the website and when you purchase the bundle, you save 17% over what you'd pay if you ordered individually. Place an order over $119 and you'll also get free shipping (I'm ALL about the free shipping!). Check out the Perdue Farms site to find out more!

The Perdue Farms Committment

It's not all about the convenience though. Because Perdue Farms is committed to farming, land preservation and healthy food, I can feel good about serving their products to my family. For the past 10 years, Perdue Farms has been transitioning from traditional chicken and turkey production to becoming the top supplier in America for organic chicken, premium beef, pork and lamb.

In fact, they've been partnering with small family farmers for 100 years to help ensure that animals are being raised with care.  Not only are these animals pasture raised, grass-fed and certified humane, they are also non-GMO and antibiotic free. I'm sure that's why Perdue is quickly becoming the most trusted name in premium proteins!

Keeping my freezer stocked is so simple now and I love not having to worry about what's for dinner. Plus, I can keep extra food on hand for when friends come over. It saved the day on a recent Friday night when I needed appetizers in a hurry. Since I had Niman Ranch sausage stashed away in the freezer, I was able to whip up an easy appetizer in no time at all.

The beauty of this recipe is that you don't need a lot of ingredients. Just grab your sausage, puff pastry sheets, sausage, peppers and cheese. If you've got those five things, you can make an awesome appetizer that your guests are going to love.

Sausage Puff Pastry With Peppers & Onions

Start by taking the puff pastry sheets out of the freezer and defrost according to the instructions on the package. Then dice the peppers and onions until you have 2/3 a cup.

Diced bell peppers

Saute peppers and onions in olive oil.

Cooking peppers and onions on stove

Cut the sausages into pieces and cook on stove with 1/2 tablespoon water. These are pre-cooked so you're really just heating them up. You can mix them in with the peppers but I prefer to do it separately so that each puff pastry gets an equal amount of sausage.

When the puff pastry sheets are defrosted, cut into squares. Because the sheet was rectangular, I ended up with some extra ones. Next time I may try to roll the pastry sheet into a square first but this time I didn't bother...I just used 12 of the squares.

Cut puff pastry sheets

Place puff pastry squares into mini muffin tins and add sausage.

Next, add peppers and onion.

Bake 5-7 minutes more, until cheese is melted and puff pastry is a golden brown. Add salt and pepper.

I've had to hide these from my family for fear of them disappearing before guests arrive! They're SO good and the Niman Ranch sausage was perfect for this recipe.

There's no better combination than sausage, peppers and onion, especially when baked into a puff pastry. It made for the perfect bite-size appetizer!
