Homemade Raspberry Vinaigrette Dressing

I used to think homemade dressing was just one more step I didn’t have time for, but this Raspberry Vinaigrette totally changed my mind. Not only is it super easy to make, but it tastes so much better than store-bought dressings.

I usually make this vinaigrette with fresh raspberries, but frozen berries work for this recipe too. Either way, the sweet and tangy flavor takes a simple bowl of summer greens to a whole new level. Fair warning: after one bite, you’ll want to drizzle it on everything in sight…salads, veggies, even your grilled chicken.

Why We Love This Recipe

  • Quick to make: Toss everything in a blender and it’s ready in minutes
  • Easy to adjust: Add more honey for sweetness or add more lemon for extra tang.
  • Perfect texture: Smooth enough to pour and clings perfectly to salad greens.

Ingredients

A bowl of raspberries surrounded by small bowls of olive oil, honey, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, red wine vinegar, and salt and pepper on a white marble surface.
  • Fresh raspberries: Use the juiciest, ripest berries you can find.
  • Extra virgin olive oil: Adds richness and smoothness to balance the acidity.
  • Red wine vinegar: Gives the dressing its punchy tang and helps it last longer.
  • Fresh lemon juice: Brightens the whole dressing and pairs perfectly with the raspberries.
  • Honey: Adds the perfect hint of sweetness.
  • Dijon mustard: Adds body and a little bite to the vinaigrette.
  • Salt and pepper: Add Just enough to round out the flavors.

Step 2. Blend for 1 minute until smooth and well combined. Taste and adjust seasoning or sweetness as needed. You can serve it as it is or for a smoother dressing, strain through a fine mesh sieve to remove seeds.

Variations And Add-ins

Want to switch things up? Make the dressing your own with these easy tweaks.

  • Frozen raspberries: Thaw them first and drain off any excess liquid.
  • Poppy seeds: Add a tablespoon of poppy seeds for a fun texture.
  • Orange: Mix in a little orange zest for a citrusy twist.
  • Sweetener: Swap honey for maple syrup or agave if that’s what you have.
  • Creamy version: Make it creamy by stirring in Greek yogurt or sour cream.
  • Vinegar: Try apple cider vinegar instead of red wine vinegar for a mellower taste.

Tips And Tricks

This vinaigrette is simple, but a few small tricks can help you get the flavor and texture just right every time.

  • If your raspberries are a little too tart, you can add a little more honey.
  • Be sure to blend the dressing long enough…you want a silky smooth consistency.
  • If the dressing is too thick, add a splash of water or extra lemon juice.
  • Always shake or stir before using, especially after refrigeration.
  • A mesh strainer is helpful if you want a seed-free finish, but it’s totally optional.

FAQs

Can I use this on more than just salad?

Definitely. It’s great drizzled over grilled vegetables, spooned onto grain bowls, or used as a dipping sauce for chicken.

Can I use this raspberry dressing as a marinade?

You can! Use about ¼ cup of this vinaigrette per pound of chicken or pork, and let it sit for 30 minutes to 2 hours in the fridge. Then, drain off the marinade and your meat is ready for the grill!

Can this raspberry vinaigrette recipe be frozen?

I don’t recommend it because the oil separates and the texture changes when thawed.
