Ingredients
Here’s all you’ll need to make this simple yet delicious homemade salad dressing:
- Olive or avocado oil: You can use any neutral oil such as canola, avocado, and olive oil for this salad dressing recipe, but olive or avocado oils are the best. Your oil of choice acts as the base of the dressing, holding all the ingredients together.
- Honey: The honey in this recipe adds a touch of sweetness to the dressing. Don’t have honey? Try substituting a little maple syrup instead.
- Apple Cider Vinegar: Adding apple cider vinegar is what gives the dressing that tangy taste and unique flavor.
- Pomegranate Seeds: You can’t have a pomegranate vinaigrette recipe without pomegranate, right? Also known as pomegranate arils, these seeds are essential to your recipe and it’s where all that delicious pomegranate flavor comes from. In addition to the great taste, the seeds contain many nutritional components such as fiber, minerals, vitamins, and bioactive plant compounds.
If you don’t have pomegranate seeds or just don’t want to deseed a pomegranate, you can pick up pomegranate juice such as POM juice next time you hit the grocery store.

Tips For Making Pomegranate Salad Dressing
Here are a few tips you should have in mind when making this pomegranate salad dressing.
- The type of oil you use will slightly affect the flavor of the salad dressing. Although most oils have a neutral taste, olive oil, avocado oil and canola oil will each give your salad dressing a slightly unique taste.
- Don’t have honey? You can get that sweet flavor by substituting a little maple syrup instead. You can also switch out the apple cider vinegar for red wine vinegar.
- When removing the seeds from the pomegranate, try to remove all of the ”white pieces” or “skin” too. If left on, they could add a bitter taste to your dressing.
- Don’t pour the dressing over your favorite salad until ready to serve!
- If you like your salad dressing creamy, you can add a little dijon mustard. This add flavor, emulsification and helps keeps your salad dressing from separating.
- The quantity of honey and apple cider vinegar used will affect the taste of your dressing. If you have a sweet tooth, you may want to add more honey. For a more tangy vinaigrette, go for a little more vinegar.
How To Store Dressing
Store this dressing by pouring it into an airtight container or mason jar, then refrigerate. Be aware that the cold temp of the refrigerator can cause the oil to solidify or separate slightly. If that happens, no worries. Just let it sit at room temperature for about five minutes, give your sealed container a good shake and it’s ready to pour.
How Long Will This Dressing Last
When refrigerated, pomegranate dressing will stay good for up to a week. However, given the fact that it tastes so delish, it never lasts that long in my house. In fact, sometimes I’ll make extra salads just to have an excuse to use this dressing.
