Christmas Footprint Art

When I was a kindergarten teacher, footprint crafts were always a hit! Kids thought they were hilarious, and parents cherished them just as much as the handprint versions. As a mom, I saved every single one…and yes, we still hang a couple on our tree each December.

These Christmas footprint printables take an easy craft and turn it into something sentimental. Kids can make footprint mistletoe or use their foot to create a reindeer head, and both designs make sweet gifts for moms, dads or grandparents. They’re also perfect for classroom activities, holiday gatherings, or just a crafty afternoon at home.

Why We Love These Printables

  • They capture tiny feet in sweet holiday keepsakes you can display year after year.
  • They’re perfect for classrooms, playdates, Christmas parties, or simple at-home crafting.
  • They require very few supplies. All you need is paint, paper, and a pair of cute little feet.

How To Create Your Footprint Art

  1. Print your favorite design on white cardstock. You can also use regular paper but cardstock holds the paint well and makes the finished craft feel like a true keepsake.
  2. Add a small amount of washable paint to a plate or tray. Green works perfectly for mistletoe, and brown is great for the reindeer, but you can get creative.
  3. Help your child step carefully into the paint, making sure the entire bottom of his or her foot is coated evenly. You can also paint the bottom of their foot but that gets tricky if they’re at all ticklish!
  4. Press the foot onto the printable in the marked area and lift straight up to avoid smudging.
  5. Let the paint dry completely, then add any details like eyes or noses. Let it dry one last time, then display and enjoy!
Four Christmas cards feature festive designs: two with reindeer made from hand or footprint art, and two with green footprints, red bows, and the phrase "I love you from my head to my mistletoes!.
