Ingredients

- Unsalted butter
- Pure vanilla extract
- Salt
- Mini marshmallows, divided
- Rice Krispies cereal
- Graham crackers, broken up into large pieces
- Semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips (or chocolate chunks)
- Hershey’s chocolate bars for topping
How To Make S’mores Rice Krispie Treats
Step 1: Line a 9 x 13″ pan with parchment paper and set it aside. You can
lightly spray the bottom of the pan with nonstick spray to help keep the paper in place, if needed.
Step 2: Melt butter in a large pot over low heat. Separate 2 cups of marshmallows and set them aside. Add the rest of the marshmallows and stir. Continue to heat on low, stirring with a wooden spoon until the marshmallows are smooth and just melted.

Step 3: Remove from heat and stir in the salt and vanilla extract.

Step 4: Fold in the rice cereal, semisweet chocolate chips, graham crackers, and the remaining marshmallows that you set aside earlier. Fold together until everything is evenly coated in the melted marshmallow mixture.

Step 5: Gently spread the Rice Krispie mixture in an even layer in the prepared pan. Don’t use too much pressure or your treats will be too hard.
Step 6: If desired, you can top the treats with additional graham crackers, marshmallows, and Hershey bar pieces.

Step 7: Let cool on the counter for 30 minutes to an hour before cutting into squares with a sharp knife.

Tips & Tricks
- When spreading the treats in the pan, you can use a rubber spatula to keep it from sticking. You could also spray your hands with cooking spray or place a piece of parchment over the treats and use your hands to press them into the pan.
- Be careful not to press the mixture too hard when placing in the baking pan. Otherwise, they may become too hard.
- Be sure to keep the heat on low as you melt the marshmallows. Trying to speed up the process by using higher heat may cause them to become overcooked and hard.
- You can drizzle a little bit of melted chocolate on the top of the bars instead of adding the Hershey chocolate squares. Or for extra chocolate flavor, try making these with Cocoa Krispies instead of regular Rice Krispies.
- If you have a kitchen torch, you can use it to lightly toast the top marshmallows and give your treats an authentic campfire look.

How Do I Store These?
Store your leftovers wrapped in plastic wrap or in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. I don’t recommend keeping them refrigerated, as they will become too hard and lose their chewy texture.

You can freeze them for up to a few weeks if you need to. But for the best flavor and texture, it’s best to eat them within a few days of making them.
