How To Organize Kitchen Drawers: 5 Easy Tips To Get It Done

If there’s one thing I love, it’s being organized! Does that mean that I am? Well, I try my best but with two kids and a business to run, sometimes things fall by the wayside.

This is especially true when it comes to my kitchen drawers! Don’t get me wrong…they were all in order at some point. You’d never know from looking at them now though.

How To Organize Kitchen Drawers

The good thing is that organizing kitchen drawers isn’t really that hard. Now that I’ve just finished doing it myself, I’ve got a few tips that’ll make it easier for you. Even better, read to the end to learn how you can enter to win a HEXA™ product bundle of your own!

Use Silverware Trays and Organizers

I’ll start with my favorite organizing tip: use silverware trays and organizers in all your kitchen drawers. It seriously makes such a difference and once you add them, most of the work is already done for you! There are a lot to choose from but my absolute favorite are the HEXA™ brand organizers.

These organizers combine style and innovation, so not only do they look great, they make it easy to keep my drawers clean. Made with a hexagon shape known as HEXOLOGY, these trays let water and debris fall right through the bottom.

The biggest problem with my old tray was that everything collected in the bottom, which was honestly kind of yucky. With the HEXA™ products, silverware stays clean and free from dirt or food particles. If the drawer gets dirty, I can just lift the tray and wipe underneath.

Another thing I really like about these silverware trays is that they can be adjusted to fit different sized drawers. My last house had some very thin kitchen drawers and the one I’m in now has gigantic ones. Because these silverware trays can be expanded, they work for drawers of all sizes.

Buy Organizers In A Variety Of Sizes

These organizers come in a variety of sizes, making it easy to mix and match them to fit any drawer. Many options have rubber feet on the bottom to keep them from sliding around in the drawer.

I added trays to the space next to my silverware tray and they were perfect. The long organizer held my extra utensils and smaller ones were just the right size for measuring spoons, wine accessories and other small items.

Even better, these trays aren’t just for the kitchen. They’re great for organizing the refrigerator craft room, my makeup drawer in the bathroom and even keeping my husbands tools and hardware sorted in the garage. You can pretty much use them anywhere in your house!

That was the easy one though. The silverware drawer had already been relatively organized. It just needed to be updated with a better tray.

The utensil drawer was a different story completely!

Originally this was just where I kept extra utensils, knives and potholders. I’m not sure what happened along the way though (don’t even ask me what that string is doing in there!). This drawer definitely needed a little extra work!

I added another silverware tray and organizers and voila…

It’s like night and day, right? Since these organizers worked so well in my other drawers, I started getting brave. It was time to tackle…the junk drawer (queue scary movie screams here!)

I can’t even believe I’m showing you this drawer…it’s SO embarrassing.

I knew what I needed to do! A few HEXA™ organizing trays later and I finally had a neat junk drawer!

I’ve finally discovered where all the pens and pencils go that disappear from my office! I never even knew we had this many.

Let’s just say that I’m very happy that I’ll finally be able to find what I’m looking for!

These organizers aren’t just for kitchen drawers either. I’m using them in my pantry too!

The small ones are great for holding all those packets that never really have a spot. It’s also so much easier to find the sprinkles I need when I’m baking. Instead of rummaging through the pantry, I just pull out the organizer and I have them all right there!

More Organizing Tips…

Fill Every Space

No matter how big my drawers are, I don’t like to waste any space. The organizers almost filled the whole drawer but I still had a little space left at the back. It’s a great spot for odd shaped utensils like whisks or meat mallets.

Storing extra utensils to the back also helps keep everything else from sliding around, though HEXA™ products have the rubber feet so that’s not an issue.

Don’t Overstuff Your Drawers

Yes, I know it’s tempting but don’t overstuff. There’s nothing more frustrating than trying to open a kitchen drawer only to find out that it’s stuck because you loaded it up with too many things (ask me how I know).

Get Rid Of Anything You Don’t Use

Why on earth was I saving random string and a pair of old sunglasses that I never even wear?

I guess I thought I might need them one day but decided that if we’re not using it now, we probably never will. That’s the main reason junk drawers end up, well, full of junk.
