Step 3. Add the wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix until well combined. The mixture should be a little thicker than cake batter.

Step 4. Pour the mixture into a piping bag, and grease your donut pan with cooking spray. Fill each well halfway with batter. Be careful not to overfill.

Step 5. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes, until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean when inserted in the middle of a doughnut. Leave them in the pan for a few minutes, then transfer them to the wire rack to cool completely.

Decorating The Donuts

Step 1. Lets make some feet! Lay out parchment paper. Start by melting the white candy melts, in the microwave. Microwave in one minute intervals, stirring after each, until smooth.

Step 2. Pour melted white chocolate into a piping bag and cut off a small tip. Pipe pairs of ovals onto your parchment paper. Let them set, then flip them over so the smooth side faces up.

Step 3. Melt your pink melting chocolates the same way, and pour into a piping bag. Cut off a small tip. Make one circle in the middle and three small ones on the top of each oval to make the pads of the feet, as shown. Give the feet a few minutes to set.

Step 4. Using a bag fitted with a 1M tip, pipe icing on the top of the donut in a circular motion. Then, create a “tail” in the center, as shown. You could also use a mini marshmallow for the tail instead.

Step 5. Place the feet on the edge of the bottom of each donut, just below the tail.

Storage Instructions

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. You can also freeze undecorated donuts in a sealed bag for up to 2 months. Then, just thaw before decorating and enjoy.

Variations And Add-ins

There are so many fun ways to switch up these donuts to match your style or taste. Whether you want a different frosting, a new flavor, or a creative twist, here are a few ideas to try.

  • Swap the frosting: Try cream cheese frosting for a tangy twist. Or you could use chocolate frosting for brown bunny butts.
  • Make mini donuts: Use a mini donut pan and bake for about 7 minutes.
  • Donut nest: Turn them into nests instead by frosting the tops and sprinkling with toasted coconut, then add Cadbury chocolate eggs and other Easter candy.
  • Extracts: A teaspoon of almond extract or lemon zest gives these a fun twist.
  • Go pastel: Tint the frosting with gel food coloring for soft spring colors.

Tips And Tricks

A few simple tricks can make all the difference when it comes to baking and decorating your donuts. Keep these tips in mind to make it super easy:

  • Don’t overfill the donut pan: Fill each well halfway to get that perfect donut shape without spilling over.
  • Use a piping bag for the batter: This makes it so much easier to get the batter neatly into the pan.
  • Let them cool completely: Warm donuts + frosting = a melty mess. I know it’s hard but be patient!
  • Smooth out your melted chocolate: If it’s too thick, stir in a teaspoon of coconut oil for a silky finish.

FAQs

Why are my donuts dry?

They might be overbaked. Check them at 8 minutes and take them out as soon as a toothpick comes out clean.

Can I use regular milk instead of creamer?

You can! The wedding cake creamer gives these donuts a richer flavor but if you don’t have any on hand, you can swap it out for regular creamer or whole milk.

Do I need a donut pan?

Yes, for the best shape, a donut pan is a must. You could also try baking in a muffin tin and cutting out the centers.

Can I make these ahead of time?

Yes! If you want to save time, bake the donuts a day in advance, then decorate before serving.
