Storage Instructions

If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container for up to 2 days. The bananas may begin to soften slightly but will still taste great. This fluff recipe isn’t ideal for freezing because the texture will become runny when thawed.

Variations and Add-ins

  • Other fruit: Add other types of berries or mandarin oranges for more fruity goodness.
  • Chocolate drizzle: Swirl in a little melted chocolate or hot fudge sauce for extra classic banana split flavors.
  • Chopped nuts: Walnuts or pecans add a nice crunch and complement the flavors.
  • Mini chocolate chips: Sprinkle chips on top or mix them into the pudding mixture for an extra chocolatey touch.
  • Low-sugar option: Use sugar-free pudding and whipped topping for a lighter version.
  • Crushed cookies: Add crushed graham crackers or vanilla wafers for extra texture.
  • Caramel drizzle: A drizzle of caramel sauce makes it even more decadent.
  • Instant pudding flavors: Try swapping banana pudding for chocolate or vanilla pudding for a new twist on this classic dessert.

FAQs

Can I use homemade whipped cream instead?

Sure! You can swap the Cool Whip for your favorite homemade whipped cream recipe if you prefer. For a slightly sweeter and richer option, you can make a Stabilized Whipped Cream instead of cool whip.

How can I prevent my banana slices from turning brown?

To prevent browning, you can dip the banana slices in lemon juice or pineapple juice before adding them to the dessert salad.

Can I this in advance?

Yes! You can make this easy recipe up to a day in advance. Just add the toppings right before serving to keep it fresh and flavorful.
