👩🏼🍳How to Make Irish Flag Jello Shots
Step 1: Bring 1 cup water to a boil in a small saucepan. Remove the hot water from the heat and whisk in the green Jello powder, stirring until completely dissolved.
Step 2: Add ½ cup of cold water and ½ cup vodka to the green gelatin mixture and stir to combine.
Step 3: Divide the green Jello mixture evenly between 3 oz. plastic shot cups, filling each one about ⅓ full. Move the cups to the refrigerator to chill for 2 hours.
Step 4: While the bottom layer chills, whisk together 1 cup water and 1 packet of Knox gelatin in a medium saucepan. Heat until just boiling.
Step 5: Remove from the heat and pour in vodka and sweetened condensed milk. Stir to combine. Allow the mixture to cool completely.
Step 6: Once the mixture has cooled, pour it into your Jello shot cups on top of the green layer. Each cup should now be about ⅔ of the way full. You can discard any remaining white gelatin mixture.
Step 7: Move the cups back to the refrigerator to chill for another 2 hours.
Step 8: To make the final layer, bring 1 cup of water to a boil. Remove from the heat and combine orange Jello and water, whisking until dissolved.
Step 9: Add ½ cup cold water and ½ cup vodka, then stir to combine. Allow the orange gelatin to cool completely.
Step 10: Once the Jello has cooled, fill your shot cups the remainder of the way with the orange layer. Move the cups back to the refrigerator to chill for 2 more hours, or until ready to serve.
Step 11: Before serving, top your Irish Jello shots with whipped cream and orange and green sprinkles.
Tips & Tricks
- Spray a little bit of non-stick cooking spray the shot cups before filling them. This will help ensure that your Jello doesn’t stick to the cups.
- You can substitute Jameson Irish whiskey or try different flavors of vodka. Orange, whipped cream, or vanilla vodka would all be delicious.
- Be sure not to add too much alcohol or your Jello will not set properly.
- If you don’t have Jello shot cups, you can use plastic shot glasses or any kind of small plastic cups.
How Should I Store Irish Flag Jello Shots?
Store them covered or in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They’ll keep for about a week but will taste better the sooner you serve them. For best results, serve your shots within 3-4 days of preparing them.
