I don’t get much downtime but now that school is back in session, I’m busier than ever! There are carpools, school functions, after school activities and all kinds of other random things that pop up. Does it stress you out because it definitely gets me stressed and sometimes I don’t even have time for lunch! If you’re a working mom, things are twice as hard. I’m all about taking shortcuts and I don’t mean cutting in the carpool line. We all need shortcuts that will make our day a little easier and a lot less stressful. Every little bit helps, right? These are a few things I’ve been doing and it’s definitely made a boatload of difference!
Start the day 5 minutes earlier
I’ll admit that I love hitting that snooze button as much as the next person. However, when I set my alarm a little early and actually get up the first time it goes off, it’s amazing how much it changes the tone of my morning. I just feel more relaxed and patient because I’m not in such a huge hurry to get out the door. Try it…you’ll see exactly what I mean.
Make a lunch box prep section
I have an area of my refrigerator where I keep lunch box items for the week and since both of my girls like the same thing every day, that makes it easy for me. I put in 10 drinks, 10 cheese sticks, 10 containers of grapes…you get the idea. I do prep the strawberries each night since they don’t stay as fresh but everything else is ready to go. At night, I just empty out their lunchboxes and their lunch for the next day pretty much makes itself!
Use a planner
It took me a long time to start using a planner but now I have no idea why I didn’t do it sooner. There’s nothing worse than that feeling that you’re forgetting something and racking your mommy brain to remember what it was. Write everything in a planner and you won’t have to worry about that anymore. While I prefer pen to paper, Google calendars are really great for scheduling too, especially because they let you coordinate your schedule with other family members.
Since you probably don’t have your own personal assistant, why not delegate some things to the kids? Even if you have young children, they can still help with the easy stuff. My four year old knows how to set the table, though she does love to tell me how “booooring” it is.. Both girls help me put away their laundry once it’s folded and they’re also helping to pick up around the house more often. Every little thing they put away is one less thing that mommy has to worry about.
Stock up on Lean pockets
Ever since I had my first child, I learned that once you’re a mommy, you rarely get the luxury of sitting down and enjoying a leisurely meal. Many times your choices are either eat fast or starve. That’s why I love Lean Pockets! Not only do they make the perfect quick and easy mini-meal, they’re delicious and affordable. Keep a big supply on hand and whenever you start feeling those hunger pangs, pop one in the microwave and you’re good to go. They make a perfect lunch and I also like that they’re a good source of protein, have no artificial flavors and are made with 100% real meats and cheeses! Not only that, the kids love them too.

My new favorites Lean Pockets are the White Meat Chicken Broccoli and Cheese with a whole grain crust and White Meat Chicken Jalapeno & Cheese with a pretzel bread crust. The jalapeno and cheese easily wins that competition though because that pretzel bread crust is so awesome!
Next time I’m definitely giving the Roasted Turkey Bacon & Cheese With Pretzel Bread Crust a try…yumm. Want to try them for yourself? Use this coupon to take $1.00 off when you purchase three products. If you get that Turkey Bacon & Cheese with the pretzel crust, be sure to save some for me!
