Remember those slushies we all loved as kids? Well, this this delicious strawberry daiquiri cocktail is basically an adult slushy, and I’m here for it.

This is one frozen drink that I’ve always got on my summer drink roster. It’s easy and delicious with a lovely vibrant red color, and there’s not a can of premade daquiri mix in sight!

I use frozen strawberries and simple syrup give it a fresh strawberry flavor, while fresh lime juice gives the perfect hint of tart citrus. Blend it all together with ice and Bacardi Rum (or your favorite light rum), until you have the perfect smooth consistency. Sure, you could buy a frozen daiquiri mix, but why bother when this cocktail recipe is just as easy and tastes a whole lot better.

Step 3: Finally, add the white rum.

Tips & Tricks

  • When I want to get extra fancy, I rim my glasses with red cocktail sugar. Just run a lime wedge around the edge of your glasses, then dip the rims of the glasses into the sugar, making sure the outside edge is well covered.
  • I recommend using a good quality light rum, like Bacardi. It works great because it tastes good and is reasonably priced. There aren’t many ingredients in this drink, so the flavor of the rum really stands out and you don’t want to go super cheap. Dark rums also don’t work as well, since the flavor isn’t as sweet as subtle as light rum.
  • Out of rum? I’ve made this with vodka in a pinch. Technically, it’s no longer a strawberry daiquiri, but it’s still delicious and refreshing, and that’s what counts!
  • Go with fresh lime juice rather than the bottled stuff. Fresh juice has a much better flavor and it’s well worth the extra effort of squeezing a few limes.

How do I Make a Kid-Friendly Version?

Your kids might get jealous if the adults get to have all the slushy fun, but don’t worry – you can easily make an alcohol-free version of this traditional daiquiri. Just omit the rum and substitute an equal amount of juice or fruit punch.

What Kind of Glasses Should I Use to Serve These?

You can use a cocktail glass, martini glass, a coupe, or even a margarita glass. Just about any frosty cold glass will work.
