I always get a little disappointed when the winter holidays are over but then Valentine’s Day comes along and cheers me right up! I love making the Valentine boxes but the Valentine’s Day desserts are pretty fun too! I’ve made everything from chocolate candy hearts to valentine bark but these hand pies may just be the best yet!

Though these look like they might take a lot of work, don’t let that fool you! These are actually super easy and fun to make. Plus they’re versatile and you can fill them with whatever you want. This time I’m making cherry hand pies but I’ve got some other ideas up my sleeve too.

Cherry Hand Pies

Because these are heart shaped, they make a great Valentine’s Day gift for teachers, friends or that special someone. They’re not just for Valentine’s Day though…switch to a round cookie cutter and these are perfect all year round!

But this is February so we’re totally going with the hearts! Grab your cookie cutter and pie dough and start by cutting cut eight heart shapes from the pie crusts.

Cutting heart shapes into pie crust

Place four of the heart shaped crusts on a cookie sheet and spoon cherry filling into the center of each.

Top each one with a second crust and use a fork to seal the edges.

Brush the top of each hand pie with egg.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, until crust turns a golden brown. Let cool and enjoy!

Valentine’s Day desserts don’t get much more perfect than these cherry hand pies! The bonus is how easy they are and especially the fact that they take just four ingredients!
