How To Make An Epic Harry Potter Charcuterie Board
For The Sorting Hats
Step 1. Microwave chocolate wafers in 30 second increments until fully melted (stirring in between).
Step 2. Snip the bottom ¼-⅓ of the ice cream cones with a knife or kitchen scissors. You’ll have to be careful not to crack the cone.
Step 3. Dip the cone in the chocolate, making sure it’s completely covered. Allow the excess to drip off then place it on the center of a Tagalong. Let the chocolate set and it’s ready to serve.
If you don’t have tagalongs, you can make chocolate covered Oreos or substitute any other round chocolate cookie.

For The Acceptance Letter Envelopes
Step 1. Break a graham cracker in half so you have two squares.
Step 2. Using your white cookie frosting, pipe a line from the top left corner to the center of the square. Repeat from the top right corner.
Step 3. In the center, where the two lines meet at a point; use your red cookie frosting to create a wax seal. (Just a piped filled-in circle).

For The Witch Brooms
Step 1. I love how easy these are! Just place a small pretzel stick into the center of each mini Reese’s cup.

For The Pocky Wands
Step 1. To make the magic wands, just brush Pocky Sticks with gold edible luster dust. I just used a touch but feel free to use as much or as little as you like.

For The Lightening Bolt Brie Wheel
Step 1. Using a cookie cutter or just a knife, cut out a lighting bolt shape in the center of the brie, about half-way down.
Step 2. Remove the cheese from the center then spoon some of the peach preserves into the
cut out shape.

To Assemble The Board
Step 1. Place the lightning bolt Brie the center a serving board, cutting board or large tray.
Step 2. Place your bowl of dark cherries in the top left. Add your grapes to the bottom left and the bowl of olives to the bottom right.

Step 3. Next, add a small bowl of pistachios just to the top right of the Brie.
Step 4. Place a salami rose in the top right corner. Add your other salami rose just above the grapes. Arrange the sorting hats along the bottom and add some of the cubed cheese under the top rose.

Step 5. Place the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup brooms around the Brie, graham cracker acceptance letters to the right of the Brie, then about a cup of Cracker Jack popcorn below it.
Step 6. Place your pocky wands near the top, to the right of the cherries. Fill in the space below with more green grapes.
Step 7. Add the chocolate covered pretzels below the cherries, then fill in any empty spaces with assorted crackers.

Serve and enjoy!
Storage Instructions
- Fridge: Store leftover cheese, meats, and chocolate items in airtight containers for up to 3 days. I recommend storing each of the ingredients separately to keep flavors from mingling.
- Freezer: You can freeze salami roses and cheese cubes for up to 2 weeks. Chocolate-covered items (pretzels, Sorting Hats) can be frozen in a single layer, then stored in a sealed bag.

Variations And Add-ins
- House color accents: Use colored candies or small fruit (like red raspberries, green grapes, yellow gummies, or blueberries) to represent the four Hogwarts houses.
- Savory potion jars: Fill small glass jars with spooky dips like guacamole (“Slytherin Sludge”) or salsa (“Phoenix Fire”) for a fun twist.
- Pumpkin elements: Add pumpkin seeds, pumpkin spiced nuts, or pumpkin-shaped candies for a reference to the Hogwarts Halloween feast.
- Homemade candy treats: My homemade Chocolate Frogs, Exploding Bon Bons, Acid Pops and Golden Snitches all work perfectly with this board.
- Beverages: Serve this with mugs of Butterbeer (you’ll love my recipe…so easy & delicious!) for the ultimate Harry Potter party vibe.

Tips and Tricks
- Salami rose: To make the perfect salami rose, layer salami slices around the rim of a small glass. Repeat the layers four times. Flip the glass over onto your board then slide it out and you’ll have your salami rose.
- Reese’s: To save time, I use the ones that come unwrapped in the orange package. Otherwise it takes awhile to unwrap them all (especially if you sample them in between like I do).
- Chill the brie: I’ve learned that it’s best to keep the brie cold before cutting into it. This helps it hold its shape when you make the lightning bolt.
- Add food picks or mini tongs: Adding party picks and tongs makes this easier to serve.
- Placement matters: Keep crisp foods like Cracker Jacks and crackers away from moist foods like grapes. Otherwise your crisp foods could get soggy.

FAQS
You can prep most of the themed items (like the Sorting Hat cookies and broomsticks) a day ahead. I also make my salami roses a day ahead and store separately in plastic storage bags. Wait to assemble the board until a few hours before serving so the crackers don’t go soft and the meats and cheeses stays fresh.
I usually use an 18″x12″ board but any large wooden tray works great. If you’re serving a crowd or want space between items, go even bigger or use two smaller boards side by side.
Absolutely. Just focus on a few of the standout themed items, like the lightning bolt brie and the broomsticks, then fill in with snacks you already have. The magic is in the details, not the quantity.
I usually assemble the themed pieces separately in containers, then build the board on-site. I bring extra crackers and toppings in baggies so nothing gets soggy or crumbles in transit.
