Homemade Milkshake Recipes
If there is one thing my family looks forward to every summer, it’s milkshake season! Living in Florida means we’re always looking for ways to cool down, and a thick, creamy milkshake is always the best answer.
Whether you’re in the mood for something fruity like a Strawberry Milkshake, something decadent like a Snickers Milkshake, or something fun like an Oreo Milkshake, I’ve got a flavor for everyone. The hardest part is narrowing it down to just one!
Tips & Tricks
I’ve made a lot of milkshakes this summer and these are the tips I swear by.
Use ice cream straight from the freezer: This is the number one tip for a thick, creamy milkshake. Soft or thawed ice cream is the most common reason a milkshake turns out too thin.
Don’t overblend: 10 to 30 seconds on high is all it takes. The longer you blend, the thinner your milkshake will get.
Chill your glasses: Pop your glasses in the freezer for a few minutes before pouring. It keeps your milkshake cold and thick longer!
Get fancy with your glass: Before pouring, drizzle chocolate syrup, caramel, or butterscotch sauce around the inside of the glass for a fun, ice cream shop look.
Taste before pouring: Give it a quick taste and adjust the sweetness or flavor before pouring into glasses. Don’t be shy about adding a little more of whatever makes it special!
FAQs
Can I use almond milk or oat milk instead of whole milk?
Absolutely! Almond milk and oat milk both work well as substitutes. Just keep in mind that whole milk gives you the creamiest, richest consistency, so if you swap it out the milkshake may be slightly thinner.
What is the best blender for milkshakes?
I use my Ninja blender for all my milkshakes and they turn out fantastic (I love all things Ninja). That being said, any regular blender should work just fine.
