Panda Valentine Box

This time we wanted to put together a cute panda Valentine’s Day box because who doesn’t love these cute little guys? The great thing about this one is that it’s super easy and even comes with printable templates. All the kids need to do is trace, cut out and glue…easy, peasy right?

Why We Love This Craft

  • Simple and budget-friendly: Uses easy-to-find supplies and comes together without stress.
  • Fun to customize: Kids can decorate their panda box with colors and details that make it their own. (For example, give it some color using light pink and hot pink instead of black and white)
  • Perfect for Valentine’s Day: A cute, creative option for classroom exchanges or crafting at home.

What You’ll Need

Assorted craft supplies including bottles of glue and paint, paintbrushes, foam brush, colorful ribbons, yarn, and blue scissors arranged on a white background.
  • Cereal box
  • 12×18 white construction paper
  • Black construction paper
  • Red glitter cardstock (or red construction paper)
  • Printable template (see below)

You’ll also need scissors, a glue gun and glue sticks (or a craft glue like Elmers), permanent marker and an X-acto knife to cut the hole for the cards.

Since I’ve made a lot of Valentine boxes over the years, I know tracking down supplies can be half the battle. So I created an Amazon Storefront with everything you need for this Valentine box, all in one spot to save you time.

Two sheets of paper with outlined shapes labeled as eyes, nose, ears, and bow, intended as cut-out templates for a craft project.

This cute Panda valentine box is one of our favorite Valentines box ideas and it's the perfect way to collect all those cute cards for Valentine's Day!

Materials

Instructions

  • Cover cardboard box (we used a cereal box) in white construction paper. Be sure to cover the sides and the back of the box too. Cut a hole for the valentine cards.
  • Print out the panda template for the panda face and the bow (for a girl panda)

  • Cut out each piece and use it to trace the shapes on construction paper.
    Panda face cutouts
  • Use a glue stick to glue the black ears to the top of the box. Then glue the eyes and nose to the front of the box. Older kids may want to use a hot glue gun.

  • I also used a hole punch to make two white circle "reflections" on the eyes. If you don’t have a hole punch, you can just cut a small circle with scissors.

  • Trace the bow on the back of your glitter cardstock or on construction paper.
    Bow for panda valentine box
  • Cut out bow and add accents with a black marker. Glue the bow just under the panda's ear.

  • That’s it! Now you have an adorable panda valentine box for collecting all those valentines!

Notes

  • If you don’t have white construction paper, you can use regular white paper. You may just need two layers so the colors on the cereal box don’t show through.
  • Want to make your panda even fancier? Use black glitter cardstock for the ears and face.
  • Change up the bow and let the kids pick their favorite colors.
  • While I linked to all the products on Amazon to make things easy, you will get them for a lot less shopping at places like Walmart or Michaels.
